Dont worry too much. Those groups can be really rough. When I first tanked that instance those groups kicked my butt. And I was mainly in Triumph gear with 1 or 2 Conquest items
We ended up using the Ret. Pally and Priest in our group to actually CC those guys. Yeah .. I know .. novel concept of using the CC spells in todays day and age. But it helped immensely.
The CC helps even more if you dont have enough AoE in your group. But I have also have burned that group down without CC with 3 AoE classes in the group. It also helps if you can interrupt the mob(s) that do the Fire AoE. Too much melee in your group will also hurt because the Fire AoE can hurt them real quick.
All in all, the group needs to play smart and use the tools at their disposal. It will also get better as the group (and you) gets better geared.
Good luck!

Ah.
Well, as someone else said, those mobs are probably the hardest fight in that instance for a few reasons. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that no one really bothered removing the fireballs damage over time component from you, or the disease debuff from everyone else.
That fight is more like a Halls of Reflection fight than anything else. Meaning there's not a whole lot of room for error.
For what it's worth it may have been easier since you were doing more DPS, and the mobs were going down quicker.
But, no, seriously, those Icecrown Citadel five mans aren't just about blasting your way through. If you've done it before - maybe the paladin has - it's worlds easier.
Or maybe since he was a bit undergeared, everyone else was giving it 110%. You know, actually paying attention to kill order, decursing, being proactive...that kind of thing.
That's ironic, but funny.

Good necro, but still...
To the OP: Judgind from described group composition, I can sure say that at least one of DPS were slacking.
Two possible ways of arranging pull in described group I see:
Way one: rested pull.
You (DK tank) bodypull mobs back a bit, clearing room for CC.
Shammy hex/Mage sheep the Doom-whatever.
You grip one flamebringed to pack and prime it down to nothing.
Keep an eye on other flamebringer target, taunt as appropriate, as you will loose threat on him to healer.
Kill warriors.
Proceed with rest of the pack.
Way two: a bit harder, since priest is healer.
Basically the way 1, plus priest shackle second Flamebringer. Could be done at nearly any moment in the fight, when situation permits.

well, i had the same experience only at level 70. I was hoping it would get better as i leveled but looks like it doesn't. I tried to tank reg uk when i hit 70 and i had no problem with threat but i almost died every pull. Thought it was just a bad healer but the next few times was the same thing. Then when i dps it i see a warrior or pally with less defense (hell mostly dps gear) less health just breeze by it. Why am i so squishy? and will it stay this way? The only thing i can think of is lack of block, could that be the main reason?I tanked a lot while leveling and had np at all. Looking at your armory, I'd say:
1. Get LK gear. There's a big ilvl gap between that & BC gear, just like between classic & BC. Even with most quest items being offensive, the extra armor & sta helps. Go to Coldarra and get the qs for the Nexus, they give some nice tanking items.
2.
Spec
, picking up the rest of BB & 2h spec, and BA / SoB / RT as you level.
3. Keep an eye on your health, and use your cooldowns when needed. IBF, UBA, AMS, Warstomp, HC (even just a few seconds can be enough to let your healer catch up), DS, DP, pots, Lichborne heal.
Interrupt mob casting, keep Frost Fever up on all mobs, keep all mobs in front of you.
Block is pretty good in 5-mans as it removes a set amount of damage. 800 damage off several 1k hits = great, 800 damage off a 10k hit = crap. Cata will see it changed to a % damage reduction, so it should be more equal. Like a RNG Blade Barrier.
