Run-on sentences notwithstanding, you are asking about target-switching? If there's a boss and I'm burning adds, I leave the FG on the boss to keep DP from falling off, with the added benefit that if I pull aggro on one he will charge it anyway for me.
I'm also wondering what the concensus is. If the mob will stay alive long enough I hit him with a corruption, otherwise I juse immo - SB - Incenrate if MC procs. I know Corruption is very valuable to proc MC, but on mobs needing to be burst down (hello, bloodbleasts) I can't see the GCD being worth it. But maybe I'm wrong.

if you cast a DoT at all make sure it's corruption. immo is slightly better DPET but that's wrapped up in MS giving it a super long duration. DPET doesn't take into account the bonus of having numerous potential source for corruption.
it would be an interesting challenge to try to work out how long something needs to live to make it worth casting a DoT at all.
i would suggest (a total guestimate) 10 seconds as a reasonable cut off point, before which you would just nuke.
