You know, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Malfurion Stormrage yet (You know, the guy who collapsed the Well of Eternity casting Sargaras into the Twisting Nether thus saving the whole of Azeroth). He is making a return in this expansion, i'd call that pretty significant.
He's coming back to fight Ragnaros at Hyjal(same as Thrall more then likely) and will probably end up being neutral for the point of Cata; and he's only the leader of the Druids, his Wife is the actual Night Elf leader.

Really think the druids will stay neutral after Ragnaros is dealt with and the orcs continue to plunder Ashenvale despite their shamanistic culture?
Druids yes, Night Elves no.

The Druids(who include Horde and Alliance races) would probably attempt to find a peaceful resolution with the Warsong... wouldn't work, but they would. After all, it wasn't Malfurion who stated there would be no alliance with the Orcs and Humans, that was Tyrande, who is the actual leader of the Night Elf nation.
