if it messes up your rotations then you're doing it wrong.

it is yeah.
giving us a better idea of your issue with the glyph/rotation so we can help with that would be much better for you in the long run than using an alternative glyph.

@zeronthe, tbh for most casual gameplay it's fine to use the glyph like that. in things like heroics, you life tap enough to keep it up a lot anyway. i would just suggest trying to get a life tap in as combat starts. that one change can make a big difference and will cover the main times that you would be missing the buff using your current strategy.

just use rank 1 lifetap to get the buff

I usually make the mistake of only lifetapping when the buff is about to run out, which results in me being oom very quickly. Something I need to work on.
Not necessarily. Optimal DPS is achieved by ONLY life tapping when glyph is expiring, until you go OOM. Once you are OOM, Tap back up to how much mana you think you need for the remainder of the fight. Always tapping when you hit ~80% mana is a DPS loss. Think about it, every tap you do that gives you mana you WON'T be using is a wasted GCD. Wasted GCDs make jesus cry.
This isn't a universal rule though -- when you know something is going to happen that will substantially increase your DPS (Bloodlust for example), you probably want to tap enough that you are insured to have mana during the buff (in other words, going OOM and tapping during bloodlust = DPS loss). This is doubly true when you consider that other buffs are usually had during a blood lust (Potions and the like). Other exceptions include times where you simply cannot be casting (ie when you are moving out of bad stuff); feel free to tap here until such a time as you can afford to hold still and cast.
Smart life tapping can be the difference between keeping your raid slot or being benched for those pesky arcane mages.

bad macro.
you should know the burn phase is coming and use max ranks taps to get enough mana to get you right through meta anyway. then you don't want to waste the first GCD
in
meta on a LT, that wastes all the previous taps you just did completely.
now a macro that casts meta and a wild magic pot might be a bit more useful.
i actually tried a cast sequence macro for a while that did 'meta > charge > IA' but it was really buggy and i tend to find charge a wasted GCD also.
