I never liked MS because you're blowing 5 talent points for 4% more damage. It's not a great return on investment.
The armor drop isn't really that big of a deal, imo.

Both MS and KotJ builds will have 10% from Naturalist
MS grants an additional 4%
KotJ grants an additional 15% while Enraged
On a per second basis-
MS = 4.4% dps gain
KotJ = 2.75% dps gain if used every 60 seconds
KotJ = 2.6612903% dps gain if used every 62 seconds
KotJ = 2.6190476% dps gain if used every 63 seconds
On a per talent point basis-
MS = 0.88% dps gain
KotJ = 0.91

KotJ = 0.88709677% dps gain if used every 62 seconds
KotJ = 0.87301587% dps gain if used every 63 seconds
MS offers superior damage-per-second.
KotJ offers superior damage-per-second-per-talent point if used every 60-62 seconds while offering two leftover talents for utility, a superior mana reduction to shifting, and 12.1% more burst damage than MS when needed such as fighting for threat with an incompetent dps.
If you feel that 4.4% additional dps is absolutely crucial to your maintaining aggro then MS is for you but you also need to reevaluate your threat generation capabilities.
Most bosses have predictable bursts of damage which you shouldn't use Enrage during but for the most part you can safely use it for the added burst damage or rage without worry.
Enrage + Swipe/Maul spamming on trash and Enrage + Berserk + Mangle/Maul spamming on bosses is a surefire way to grab aggro and keep it.
Oh and of course don't forget 2T10 which turns Enrage into defensive cd. Now you can Enrage when the boss does!

I use 2/2 Brutal Impact, gives me a more reliable stun/interrupt for soloing, world pvp, and heroics when dps is too incompetant to nuke/cc/interrupt spell flingers and such.

My 2 leftover points went into 5/5 furor, because I don't like having to keep shifting until rng decides to give me my rage! It's only 10 rage, I know, but still it's nice to have.
Following situation would suck:
Raid Leader: ok everyone is ready, tank go pull!
Me: hang on, didn't get any rage, powershifting ... *shifts* darnit ... *shifts again ****SUCKER! ....
Raid Leader dies of boredom
Me: *shifts again* ok got my rage now, inc!
And THAT's why I'm speccing 5/5 ^^

hehe well that's exactly what those last 2 points are for, there's nothing left that's a must have so it's purely preference.
Shredding Attacks will have an almost unnoticable effect on lacerate but is nice if you often go cat with your bear spec
Brutal Impact is my personal favorite as it halves the cd of our only reliable stun/interrupt in pve
Improved Mangle is a small single target threat boost but isn't necessary
Nurturing Instinct is nice for healing yourself while soloing, sucks to heal 30~40k health out of form with no mana or spell power
Natural Shapeshifter makes shifting even cheaper than it already is with a KotJ build
You get the idea.
