Combat vs mut for specific icc encounters?

so my guild is doin pretty good progression in icc we've downed first 4 bosses festergut rotface and putricide wipe at 200k hp >.<
ive been thinking of raid optimization as well as my own dps and i have viable weapons and gear for both mutilate and combat and have been experimenting with different specs on different bosses. so far ive found that combat excells on marrow and deathwisper while mut destroys saurfang and fester.
the encounters im most interested in (for now) are putricide and blood princes. on our 1% wipe to putricide (>.<;;;; dammit!) i had been using mut spec. i havent tested put yet with combat but im thinking the quick startup and the savage combat buff may outweigh my personal dps but then again its speculation.
also on princes we're pretty screwed lol we run with a pretty melee heavy grp so we havent made much progress. im not sure whether either spec would really help at this point.
so any icc raiders out there have some feedback on combat vs mut for specific encounters?

good news everyone! we killed putricide last night lol
i think the savage combat buff did play in our favor a LOT during that fight and the abundant cooldowns in phase 3 helped a ton. i know the static boss = mut dynamic boss = combat principle but for example on deathwisper they plant me on the boss full time to burn the mana sheild quicker and i found that my combat was steadily higher dps than mut(lack of bleed made hfb useless and i dont wanna go back to a rupture cycle lol) just wanted to see if anyone out there dual specced pve for the same reasons and they had some imput.
and for the person telling me im doing marrow and deathwisper wrong. how exactly? lol im topping the meter on both fights and TotT+killing spree is magical after bone storm

huh? you dont have to go back to a rupture cycle if there are no bleeds for your HFB, it's called spending 1-3 points on a rupture just to activate HFB for another min. Not rocket science. Ruthlessness proc'd and HFB is down to a few sec? Use that point on a rupture.
So for deathwhisper, if you're on boss during shield phase, MUT should definitely be out DPSin your combat, if you're on trash, then combat should be out dpsin your mut. As for marrowgar, I usually do fairly bit better as mut then combat, around 400-500 dps more.

bah i forgot about that. i was thinking i had to have a bleed up constantly for the hfb buff to give me the 8% not just to activate. ill give it a shot next time. regardless tho im topping both specs and the boss is easy enough as it is =P for marrow i just find the timing of my KS cooldown to be helpfull in wrangling the boss back on to the tank so i can start harder dps faster also blade flurry helps with bone spikes when they spawn on melee. just a matter of preference i guess. i prefer mut but its nice to have the option and the practice of two different play styles

You only need to have a bleed rolling on a target at the time of refreshing HfB.

It also depends on your gear for each spec. Couple things to note. It is possible, since the nerf to Mut, for your combat to be the same as, if not, higher than your Mut spec if your gear is better as combat. Second, if you are trying to use the same armor for Mut as combat, you might not have optimal gemming/chanting for both, so you're not really benefiting from switching. You would almost need to completely seperate sets to do it.
Here is an example...I have the 264 sword from Saurfang, 245 OH, and several 264/251 pieces. My spreadsheet tells me to gem for ArP at this point. Even if I did gem for AP and took a bit of a loss, I am using a 232 OH and 245 MH dagger for Mut and my dps comes out lower than my Mut spec anyway. So, my highest dps is as combat. It's not worth the switch.
