Hello,
Just a quick question regarding gear.
Right now I'm using arms as an offspec, (just for the lulz, I don't really use it for instances or raids, just dailies and WG) and I was wondering if there would be any significant change if I were to switch the talents but not the gear (adding a second weapon of course).
Also - if there's any tips you could offer about switching my lulzspec from Arms to Fury, please let me know. I'm not interested in seriously raiding with this, so I wouldn't lose any sleep over my situation.
Thanks!

There are a few differences between Arms and Fury when it comes to gear.
First is the weapon, you pretty much need an Axe if you are going Arms, but with Fury you can use any (suitable) two handed weapon.
Secondly hit changes from a 8% hardcap with arms to a 5% softcap with Fury. You get 3% hit from talents, meaning you only need 5% from gear to make sure your specials don't miss, but further hit isn't "bad" since it will increase your white melee hit chance (since you have a 20-some% dual-wield penalty for white damage). Along with this, Fury needs 26 expertise from gear alone. Arms has 4 expertise from talents and another optional 2% dodge reduction from Weapon Mastery.
Third difference is that Haste is decent for Fury and it's pretty junk for Arms.
Lastly is the Armor Penetration question. Fury gets more AP from strength due to multiplying talents, so you need much more base Armor Penetration from gear before it becomes "right" to gem for ArP over Strength. With Arms, you can pretty much gem ArP immediately and see better returns than Strength (regardless of your trinket situation).
All that said, there isn't much you need to concern yourself with when going from Arms to Fury. Just be mindful of your new Hit and Expertise caps, and think about how you are Gemming if you are going for ArP.

one of the biggest differences you'll probably notice is the amount of extra expertise you need for fury. however, if you're not raiding, that's not all that important either.
so, if it's just a lolzspec (w/e that might be), then don't worry much about itemization.
oh, and you can't dual wield polearms! you probably knew that, but just in case your best weapon was a polearm...

It's true. I've been arms since forever, and I've had Marrowstrike for a long time (Marrowstrike is all kinds of hot for Arms), but when I switched to Fury I found myself in need of two weapons. Fortunately fate was kind. Just run H PoS a bunch to get 2 Tyrannical Beheaders, they're great. Or raid as whatever your main spec is and get weapons that way. But yeah, I was all raring to go, and then I had to wait for two drops. Boo!
