i hate to side here, but, if the legion could honestly take away the power of the scourge why then did they fight at sunwell?Well, don't forget; the Scourge was trying to attack the Sunwell during 2.4; they could have been there trying to stop Kil'jaeden from being summoned. And remember, after you do the final quest in Onslaught Harbour, Mel'ganis taunts us by saying without the Dreadlord and the Legion, we can't defeat the Scourge.... which makes sense as the Dreadlords created the Nercomancy magic in the first place(see 2nd book in War of the Ancients).

true true, but if the dreadlords were really trying to stop them such as the onslaught attacking deathknights and scourge, dont you think they wouldve done so by now? i think its a whole lot of talk.
we know (not sure where i read) the legion lost control of the scourge and is now resenting having made such a tool.
everything has a few back tales and with the way blizzard keep messing with things we have no real way of knowing whats what, we can only take it as we see it, arthas gone, kael'thas gone, illidan gone and bolvar now somewhat hero/corrupt king of dead.
things will change constantly, no matter the case or lore
i was talking to a mate and we agree that the expansions are coming to often and with little thought put in to them, wotlk couldve been huge, with so much to add to it, now with cata around the corner no doubt we can expect to see a
BAD
ending too with deathwing and many unanswered questions.

we know (not sure where i read) the legion lost control of the scourge and is now resenting having made such a tool. They lost control because Archimonde went ka-boom, Tichondrius was killed by Illidan, and Mel'ganis was off healing somewhere, leaving the three amigos in Eastern Kingdom more focused on keeping Lordaeron under their control. Had Kil'jaeden been able to get to Azeroth after the Sunwell, he probably would have taken the Scourge back under the wings of the Legion, and sent them after the mortal races again.
The Legion would destroy them though.... they created the Scourge after all, the higher ups can probably take the magic away from them if they wanted to.
Apparently not, else they wouldn't have needed Illidan. The Scourge grew out of control, and in so doing, out of the Legion's power.
They sent Illidan because there was no one on Azeroth at the time they could use to reopen a portal to summon Kil'jaeden.

No one, like, uh... Illidan?
The Lich King grew out of control and out of Kil'jaedan's power. Chances are the Legion wouldn't be able to just wave their hands and dismiss the Scourge.
Illidan didn't have an army of magi on his side to summon him.... plus, no book of Medivh like KT had for Archimonde. As for the wave the hand thing... why not? Kil'jaeden built the Lich King, I'm sure he put something inside the armour to destroy it if it was really needed.... he wasn't called the Deceiver for nothing as well as being the second in command to Sargeras for a few dozen millenniums.

Must not... post... ORLY... ARGH!
ORLY?
Well people were saying they couldn't find it thanks to Blizzard apparently shutting down as many of the movies as possible from the web. Now we have another one ~_^

If anything, I see a future expansion having the new Lich King and his Scourge coming to our aid in spectacular fashion against a common enemy (final assault on the Burning Legion perhaps). I can just see it now, grinding rep with the Scourge. I mean how cool--and awkward--would that be!
The Legion would destroy them though.... they created the Scourge after all, the higher ups can probably take the magic away from them if they wanted to.
Naw min, naw min, this is a really cool idea. I like the idea of WoW culminating into one final expansion and one final fight. It could have Bolvar awoken as the new benevolent, kind of "chaotic-neutral" Lich King and have his newly empowered Scourge join us to bring a final assault to the Burning Legion.
Yes, the Burning Legion could take away the Scourge's powers, but bada-boom, no more Scourge. Everybody wins.
Then we get killed by demons, wahey!

being exalted would that then mean no more attacking undeads? highly unlikely
All undead =/= the Scourge.
(Duskwood, for instance)
Plus, if you still want some undead enemies, there could be some "Forsaken" like group that breaks free of Bolvar's control for us to battle.
