I think this could be encounter specific, and you'll see more of the same for 3.3.2 with the extra stack of Shadow to apply for the extra 5% buff. I think the extra 5% was specifically for that reason, since any fight where you can't keep your haunts going forces you to start SB.
Speaking of which, for the 3rd stack of Shadow Embrace, do you think we'll do 2 SB's, or just use 2 stacks, and let our second Haunt become the 3rd stack 10 seconds later?

I believe it has to do with the fact that when you are affliction, you are doing DPS from start to finish of fight and during movement you aren't casting SB but still doing damage. A Mage for instance is more direct damage so they arent doing DPS when they are moving, so their DPS timer stops.
So our damage will be higher cause we are constantly doing damage, but our actual "damage per second" isn't as high as sometimes we arent casting in movement fights.
I don't know if this has changed, but this is the reason I heard before.

Thats exactly it. And thats why you need to call out any noob that posts dps recount instead of dmg done on a boss fight. Thats one way to take care of that mage that pulled 6kdps in the first 5 seconds of the fight, grabbed aggro and died but still comes out as a hero when his other idiot friend posts the dps meter.
