How hard was your DPS hitting? Due to Toravon's
Whiteout
ability, eventually everyone will bite the big one. This is his soft enrage, and it pretty similar to Koralon's
Burning Fury
ability. The only difference between the two being that one Koralon buffs himself, and Toravon debuffs the raid. Unfortunately you can't really do anything in this situation, if Whiteout reaches 4 or 5 stacks, you're pretty much done for. The DPS need to step up, probably not you.

Something else I failed to mention was the possibility of your tanks not switching fast enough to avoid stacking
Frostbite
. If this debuff stacks too high, (5 is probably too high) then your tanks wont last long either. This seems like it would be more likely as you say the tanks were the ones dying instantly. Keep in mind that the Frostbite debuff couples with the
Whiteout
debuff.

The tanks shouldn't require any serious ball-busting healing, at least not in any of the experiences I've had. I would guess that either the tanks were under-geared, they didn't swap off fast enough, or your DPS wasn't cutting it.
I don't think it was you. Even still, look at your logs (I like Recount for this) and see what exactly killed your tank. If you see that he was killed by a hit for 40,000 then I wouldn't be too worried about your healing skill.

Highest dps in 10M was around 5k, lowest was around 3.5kish I believe.
That's pretty low for Toravon.

So then it might not have been my healing then? Because I was spamming heals like mad..
Spamming heals like mad implies that you were picking up the slack, unfortunately healers have to pick up the slack no matter who decides to slack.

This is quite true. The Torvon fight is designed to keep scrubs who don't deserve the gear from getting it. While the fight is still very easy, you can't just waltz in there as a group of fresh 80's and pull it off. It just can't happen.
It's a relative DPS race, where the DPS is aiming to kill Torvon before he gains too many Whiteout stacks. If he gets over 5 stacks on the raid, one more Whiteout will pretty much wipe the raid or Torvon himself will just start one-shotting the tank.
I was in a PUG the other day in 10 man Torvon where the great majority of DPSers were hitting between 4.5-5k DPS. We made it by the skin of our teeth with one tank, one DPS and one paladin healer (who bubbled) surviving to kill Torvon just 2-3 seconds after the last Whiteout. I would call this the cut-off point.

I agree with this. Luckily, our DPS were between 4 and 6k each - And the tanks were relatively well geared. I ended up finishing the fight with me, the MT and 2 DPS - We were very close to wiping as well.

I'd personally like to see some fight incorporate some sort of logic puzzle (Chess event was too easy to count) in combination. Something that couldn't be put into a boss mod.
ha I don't know if you remember the Logic game that was in Blade's Edge Mountain for the Ogri'la rep. We referred to it as "Simon", but people still found a way to cheat...
In Naxx, we had the Heigan fight, which really only required two smart people to know what to do: one smart tank and one smart Ranged/Healer.
Smart people will ALWAYS find a way to make it easier or have some sort of tutorial to get the brainless through it. That's why we have automatic transmissions. ;-)

I think I managed to get past Heigan ONCE in all the times I tried to run Naxx.
Wow. Perhaps you should invest in a new internet connection? You're in a small minority of players who have lag difficulties.
We're talking about logic problems, where unfortunately, bad logic + poor connection = lol u died.

I was proud of doing that in my head, without a mod, every day.
Oh I totally agree with you. There is a satisfaction you get from conquering these mental tasks on your own without any of those mods. However, since a large number of lazy players don't share our sentiment, the mods exist.
