Quick facts around Reckoning:
It will add an extra attack to your 4 next weapon swings.
Has a 8 second duration.
2% proc chance per talent.
Has a chance to proc when you get hit or block an attack.

As the title says, how does the Reckoning talent work?
I picture it like that that you need to have a wep of speed under 2 secs, so that you can swing 4x in 8 secs, and from that you get an extra attack, but some1 told me it works differently.
That it works like so that it gives you a buff, and then every next attack has 8 secs to give an extra attacks, but by that logic I would think you could get 4 extra attcks, wher ehe states he gets 2 extra attacks with 2.6 wep speed.
Does any1 know exactly how this talent works and if he could explain it in detail that would be nice.
Thanks :)
The problem with the logic you seem to be making is that you forget that reckoning procs when you get
hit
, not from your swings.
Thus your swing speed will not be 0 when the buff is applied.
The highest weapon speed that can proc 4 attacks with reckoning is 2.6:
0.0 Reckoning procs
0.1 First charge
2.7 Second charge
5.3 Third charge
7.9 Fourth charge
This does not exclude the chance of reckoning procing again before the first four charges have expired though.
If you want an more in detail view of it either read the thread Squishy linked to or be specific.

In my experience, with 2.6-2.7 wepon and blockcap, Reckoning uptime is about 70-80%. Which means, it's about as good as standard 1.6sec tanking weapon without it.

You forgot to mention how many points you put in it and how many mobs are on you. Also blockcap isn't relevant, avoidance is.
So basically;

Um, true. Avoidance is. My bad. Take it as ~50% for rough estimation. 5/5 Reckoning.

Still you havn't mentioned the amount of mobs.
Though nonetheless the numbers in my original thread about reckoning are still accurate.
Even though the thread is really old, reckoning hasn't changed since then.
With a 2.6 swing speed you'd have ~5 mobs on you for a ~75% uptime.
4 mobs = 66.57%
5 mobs = 74.58%
6 mobs = 80.67%
Given the 50% avoidance you mentioned.

Anyways: ideally, you want the most (4) extra attacks at the highest damage possible per swing.
Higher damage = slower weapon, so anything 2 seconds and under after buffs are suboptimal for reckoning
Scenario 1:
0.00 proc starts
0.00 melee swing
0.00 reckoning
2.00 reckoning
4.00 reckoning
6.00 reckoning
4 seconds wasted from reckoning
Scenario 2:
-0.1 melee swing
0.00 proc starts
1.99 reckoning
3.99 reckoning
5.99 reckoning
7.99 reckoning
~2 seconds wasted
You have ~20% haste from raid buffs + 3% from ret paladin/boomkin, so your weapon will be at 81% speed in a raid or even in 5 mans, so even a 2.6 speed weapon will be at 2.1 seconds.
TL;DR
Slower the better for reckoning

Does Seal of Command work with Reckoning?
Would the extra attack from Reckoning hit 2 more targets from Seal of Command?

Reckoning is extra melee attacks.
Do melee attacks proc SoC?
Post by
blademeld
Reckoning didn't proc SoC in Vanilla and tBC to be fair Quest.

Talk to poor Kazaak about fair!
Also reckoning did 4 swings instantly back then (after the fix) and proc off the first reck hit.

I miss those days.

Same. I wish Blizzard would realize not everyone wants 80. If we had some classic stuff and a reward system for classic with old trees etc many people that stopped playing would come back. It was simpler back then!
Maybe cata will bring back some of that.

Or maybe it will ruin it further.
Where do you get all those graphs?

It's an excel graph from the formula I ...formulated... with for basic reckoning. I could still account for things like JotJ, but the change would be minute unless you were only fighting 2 mobs.
