"Then tell us oh great wise one." she said sarcastically.

He scoffed at the insult. "There ain't gonna be a hope fer ye if ye decide to go for genocide or eradication or whatever you want to call it. But there won't be no hope to be gettin' the Horde to sign a treaty either."
"If there is one thing that I've learned from me time as a General... The Horde won't be givin' up. We might cage 'em, we might try to kill 'em, we might make it so they haven' got a chance at survival... but they'll keep fightin'."
He looked around the room, glancing at each face, making sure they knew the gravity of his words. "No, this war ain't over. It ain't over by a long shot. No matter what we do, we haven' got a chance to break their spirit. All of ye know what happened the last time we put 'em in cages. Nothin's goin' to make 'em give in."

"Yes we all know these monster's would never give up." she sneered. "There savages."

"I would agreed," Meraan nodded, "but the Horde is in no position to continue this war. If their Warchief has a shred of responsibility, he would not allow this war to continue. If they perceive any part of this treaty as unfair, they will reject it, causing only more losses on both sides. I believe, however, if we can show them that we are willing to offer a compromise that seems fair to them, they will ratify it. If not the orcs, the Tauren at the very least, allowing us to move our troops to more necessary positions."

Vanndar spat at the comment. "Savages? Have ye ever been bled in battle, missy? They be no more savage than we are. I ain't sayin' they be savages. I'm sayin' they'll never give up, never surrender to an oppressor. If that isn't honor, I ain't seen it."

"No we must not be leniant on them. If we are leniant they will see only weakness and will attack us again." she said.

"Then what exactly do you propose we do, milady?" Meraan asked. "We cannot simply exterminate them as if they were vermin. I will not have the blood of Horde children on my hands," he stated. "Nor can we attempt to subjugate them. It worked for a time when they were still in the throes of withdrawal, but it will not work today. If they feel they are being oppressed, they will not hesitate to rise up and fight back, even if it means their own destruction. No, we must come to terms with them, and make them feel that they are being treated fairly. It is the only option that I see," he nodded. "Feel free to suggest an alternative if you can think of something that results in less life lost."

"But they are only vermin. Filth and evil scittering around in our world." she said. "And they should be treated as such."

"Listen to yerself, Meraan. That Warchief yer talkin' about is Varok Saurfang. He's a hero. Not to just the Horde but to all of us here, that didn't want the Silithid to cover all of Azeroth. That one is the greatest Orc that this Horde has known. There be no way he'll be givin' in to any treaty that puts the Horde at a disadvantage. If we let 'em keep what they have, they build and come back, maybe not in our generation, but soon. If we try to wipe 'em out, we die along with 'em."
He sighed. "The only hope we got to end this war on a good note is fer another Legion invasion."

Meraan chuckled. "It seems you only know one side of the Horde," he chuckled grimly. "I lost my mother in the Draenor War. I know a great deal of orcs. And yet, I still know them to be far more than vermin. There are orcs out there who deserve death, yes," he nodded, "but there are also orcs that are just as kind and compassionate as you or I. Perhaps more, based on your sentiments," he added, before listening to Vanndar.
"We must at least offer them the treaty, would you not agree?" he asked. "If we offer a treaty and they refuse, we have only wasted our own time. If we do not offer it, then we only make further war an inevitability. They have agreed to ceasefire, perhaps they will listen to our offers?"

"I am compassionate only to those who deserve it." she said. "And those vermin do not deserve any."

Vanndar shrugged off the offer, "Bah, treaties, proposals. Is that all you politicians can see? Compromise? There ain't no compromise in this. Aye, they might have agreed to a ceasefire. The way I see it, a ceasefire gives ample time to assess yer situation as a commander. Saurfang is one of the best in this world... maybe
the
best. It doesn't matter if they agreed, all that does is give them time to understand their situation!"
He stood. "So long as we allow this ceasefire and negotiation to continue, we run the risk of damnin' ourselves! Fer the protection of the Grand Alliance, we must continue fighting! We need continue until the Horde has been so scattered that it would take them a hundred years to regain their forces. Maybe then, they'll be ready fer a treaty."

"Perhaps that's because it was troll land that you founded your home on, from what I have heard," Meraan chuckled. "But that's besides the point. The point is, their peoples are just as diverse, if not more so than ours, and as such we cannot generalize them in one category or another," he nodded to Zara, before turning to Vanndar.
"Perhaps you are right, Stormpike," Meraan nodded. "I hope to the Holy Light, though, that you are not. I pity the orcs. They have fallen so far, and they still try to climb from the pit they have dug themselves. It would sadden me to see them so broken as a people. Likewise with the other Horde races. The Tauren, in particular, do not deserve to be broken without even the offer of a treaty."

"I agree. We must scatter them and make them weak, but we must not just divide them. We must divide them and crush them utterly leaving no men women or children alive." she said.

Vanndar spat back at such a notion. "We do that and we'll see the entirety of the Alliance fall with them. Ye know nothing of war, do ye, girl? Once a man has nothing left to live for, he becomes wild and unstoppable. Our children, YOUR CHILDREN will reap the deaths that we sow in that act! Leave yer talk of revenge and hatred out of this. Such things have no place in war."

"I am still young sir. So children are still a long way away." she said. "But you may be right. We could pay for it but we would pay for it as well if we simply scattered them."

"Indeed," Meraan nodded. "As long as they feel unfairly treated and they can still move their bodies, they will fight us," he nodded. "We are thus left with two ways to deal with it..."
