imo only grab KotJ if you want to be able to play a decent off-dps role.

Enrage does take quite a chunk of armor away. When i use it, my armor almost drops to the ammount of our guilds paladin tank. Also, look at feral Tier 10 bonus.

Lets compare strengths.
King of the Jungle
KotJ offers more damage per point than MS if used every 60-62 seconds.
KotJ offers more damage when it matters than MS.
KotJ offers superior mana cost reduction to shifting than MS.
KotJ offers two leftover points for utility, be it additional mana reduction to shifting, making your only remotely reliable pve stun/interrupt more reliable, reducing the cost of shred for the occasional chance you go cat, or increasing your ability to self heal to name a few.
KotJ grants energy returns on tiger's fury for the occasional chance you go cat.
4T10 supports KotJ so when the boss enrages you too can enrage while also reducing your damage intake.
Master Shapeshifter
MS offers more consistent damage than KotJ
If you absolutely need to always have an extra 4% damage to maintain aggro then MS is the better choice, if you can go the majority of the time without having aggro problems without the constant 4% damage bonus then KotJ is the better choice.
On a sidenote, yes, without 4T10 enrage reduces armor. The point is to pop it at a timely fashion like between enrages rather than doing it while a boss enrages then wondering why your face hurts so much.

I wouldn't recommend KotJ for progression raiding unless you have 4T10, as you will take a noticeable hit to survivability.
I'm thinking of trying out
this
once I get 4T10, what do you think hash? Sacrifice OoC and ILotP for Master Shapeshifter + KotJ

Yeah it is, that's one of the specs listed in my 1 post rundown. If you have someone else to provide imp LotP then it's quite a good build and exceptional for threat and helping push some damage to meet the enrage timer.
Spec
0/53/11+8
is the very basic bear build.
OoC is taken as it procs off both autoattacks and mauls and is a godsend for low rage situations allowing you to maintain respectable threat generation in the absence of rage.
ILotP is the only talent left that actually offers you more survivability and in fact grants its benefit to all physical dps
Due to the value of these two talents they're generally included in most guides' bear talent builds for
0/55/11+5
From 0/55/11+5 you have two options, KotJ or MS.
KotJ offers superior utility, better shifting mana reduction, better burst damage when it matters, and if enrage is used every 60~62 seconds KotJ offers more dps per point than MS.
KotJ =
0/58/11+2
the last two can go into-
Shredding Attacks if you often go cat otherwise it's quite useless
Brutal Impact to halve the cd of your only reliable PvE stun/interrupt (strongly recommended if using a KotJ build)
Nurturing Instincts for increased survivability while soloing (healing ~35k with a tiny mana pool and no +healing is a pain)
-just to name a few.
MS =
0/55/16
If you're strictly running content where survivability isn't your top priority and you'd like more dps/tps then you can in fact combine a KotJ and MS build into one but it will lack utility of a KotJ build, the survivability both KotJ and MS builds have via ILotP, and the consistent rage supply from OoC, a KotJ+MS build would look like so,
0/56/15
. (Wouldn't recommend this as a raid spec to the inexperienced)
The third major glyph should be Survival Instincts for survivability or Growling for specific encounters where a taunt missing is the difference between loot and a corpse run when under spell hit capped. The other two minor glyphs are preference but Challenging Roar is recommended.
Face Blocking: 101

it does help for initial aggro imo, just pop barkskin to negate the armor loss. The cd should be up again for when you start taking some heavy hits from the boss.

Just making sure I didn't overlook anything essential in it :)

I don't spam enrage but it's good to know if used at certain intervals it is in fact better point for point than MS.
I usually pop it upon establishing initial aggro, when I berserk, when some genius doesn't know how to attack the right target then continues to attack the same one after stealing aggro from a mob that's only getting swiped, or a boss' weak phase such as Icehowl's Staggered Daze.
Come 4T10 I'll most likely reserve it for initial aggro and oh $%^&s while still trying to line it up with berserk during an oh ^&*! moment.
As for ILotP, it shouldn't be missed soloing beyond the mental knowledge that it's no longer there but in a raid that's heavy on melee it may make a more noticeable difference in its absence, it's a personal matter still and if a second druid is supplying ILotP then there's no reason you should "waste" 2 talent points to do the same.
