(( Aye yup. ))
- Soth returned to the Shadowed Spire and walked up to Nathanos. “Blightcaller,” she said, “I have completed da ritual.”
- “You have, eh?” Nathanos looked into her eyes then nodded. “Yes, you did.” He clapped slowly. “You truly are one of us now, sister.”
…
- The next few days of Soth’s new life passed in almost repetitive fashion. Training, dueling, strengthening herself and her new brothers and sister of the quiver. It was all in a day’s work.
- She wasn’t without new allies, though, the tauren that had first greeted her – one Bream Soulhoof – had become one of her closest associates, as had a female blood elven ranger named Kalistra Sunstorm. Nathanos had noted how they worked together so well, and had assigned them to a group all their own.
- Now all three knelt before the Ranger-General of the Dark Quiver, ready to receive their assignment. “Recently I received the distressing news that a border patrol of my Rangers have yet to return. Considering the punctuality of those in the group, I find this… odd. I need someone expendable to go and see to this matter.”
- Soth grinned. She’d learned well enough that “expendable,” when used by the Blightcaller, truly meant “talented.” She was pleased to know her hard work was paying off.
- “They were last spotted near the west,” Nathanos continued. “Go and find them.”
- The three stood and saluted then left the spire, summoned their mounts, and headed off towards the west.
- After a great amount of riding and searching, Bream caught a whiff of something and led the group to the south a ways. There they found several dark ranger corpses.
- “By the Shadow,” Kalistra said, covering her mouth and nose to try and escape the stench of rotting meat.
- Bream knelt down by the corpses and inspected them. “They’re heavily mutilated,” he said, “no Horde or Alliance weapon could have done this.”
- “What about magic?” Soth asked.
- “Possibly,” Bream replied, “but I highly doubt it.”
- “So we’ve ruled out murder.”
- “For the time,” the tauren stood. “I think we should return to the Spire and-
GAH
!” He fell to his knees, gripping his head in pain.
- “Bream!” Kalistra exclaimed. “What’s wrong?”
- “There’s… something in my… my head!” he said through gritted teeth. “It… it won’t shut up!”
-
They are coming for you… Give in to your fear…
- Soth gripped her own head in pain as the whispers - that were most certainly not of dark ranger origin - entered her mind.
- “Soth!” Kalistra said again.
- “I hear dem too,” the troll said. “They-.”
- “Shur’nab… shur’nab…
Zool
!” A battle cry rang out and three creatures rushed over a nearby hill.
- The first was a large, brutish creature. It stood on two, massive legs that went up to thick body and then spread out into a head – although no neck was visible – and two arms with deadly-looking claws for fingers. Its head had no visible eyes, but its tooth-filled mouth was clearly visible, and looked ready to feed.
- The other two creatures were significantly smaller, and instead of two large legs they stood on four, thin spider-like ones. Their upper torso was hunched, and had only a thin pair of arms that sprouted out of it. Again there was no neck, but they did have a single, massive eye that stared at the ranger’s as well as a mouth filled with jagged, broken teeth.
- Kalistra scowled and fired an arrow at the large creature; it hit its mark but caused it no significant pain. She fired again, this time missing the large creature.
- The arrow flew far and – by sheer luck – managed to hit one of the four-legged creatures in the eye. It reared back, hissing in pain. As it did, Bream seemed to be released from whatever had been affecting him.
- “I don’t know what you did,” he said, “but thank- look out!” He threw himself between the large creature and the blood elf, managing to use his bulk to knock it away. He grabbed the battle axe off of his back and began to beat the creature back.
- With Bream dealing with the large creature, Kalistra turned her attention to the thinner ones. She fired arrow after arrow, some hitting some missing, at the creatures. Finally one fell to the ground dead. The other, sensing the danger, retreated, and Soth was released from its grasp.
- With all three rangers working together, the large creature quickly fell.
- “What in Shadows were those things?” Bream asked.
- “I haven’t the slightest,” Kalistra replied, “but I think that the Blightcaller might want to know about this. Check that, I
know
he’ll want to know.”
- “Let’s see what we be up against first,” Soth said. “I say we follow dat ting and see where it be goin.” The other two rangers agreed.

I smell Old God involvement. Namely that of the Old God supposedly residing within Tirisfal Glades.
Heh, well if you read my idea...
But yeah, Old God's have sawy over these things, their appearences (eyes, and whatnot) convey that.
