I'll start levelling a new hunter and wonder if the Draenei are superior to any other Alliance Race due to Gift of the Naaru.
Lately a hunter I met told me it does about half of the healing one Mend Pet does at 80.
As a little background information: I want to use this toon to mainly SOLO instances later on.
I know everybody keeps saying (this includes myself) no racial won't ever make or break gaming experience but in this special case I'm wondering if it'll provide significant advantage over any other racial while soloing content.
Thanks!

My gift heals me for about 9k, in my SV raid spec and raid gear. However, since it scales with AP, it heals for only about 5k in my BM soloing spec. It is still great to have, and in pvp it has saved me more times than i can count.
Heroic presense is also nice with T10 gear that is largly lacking in hit, but it was useless with T9, which had more hit than you can shake a stick at
EDIT: Please note, for my soloing, I dont use 2 pcs of the T5 (for healing), if you use them, the gift will probably heal for less. However, there have been many pulls that I know I couldnt do without gift. I will pop both mend and gift on a pet, and it will keep it alive through a group till i can burn 1-2 down, and just mend is enough to heal through remaining damage.

As a leveling Hunter, I find it that sometimes my pet runs away with a fleeing mob, eventually pulling more. Having Mend Pet and Gift of the Naaru can be a livesaver here. Beyond healing your pet, sometimes in instances when the healer is low on mana and the tank low on health, again, Gift of the Naaru saves the day.

First of all: "Find Treasure" is the worst racial of all time lol!
I do want to defend the Draenei racials. Sure, they are only situationaly useful, but once you find yourself in one of those situations, you will be very grateful you have them.
1) PvP. You know when those damn locks? You kill them, but die anyway--5 minutes later? You cant bandage, and unless there is a healer around you are gonna die? Well Gift keeps you alive long enough to bandage, then continue after that flag carrier. Situational? Certainly. Fun as hell? Yes.
2) PvE. The first time we completed an Insanity run in ToGC, the healers were having a hard time keeping up (obviously), next to me the dk went down. I wasnt getting healed aside from aoe heals, gift was enough to keep me up for one more kill shot, and 3 more explosives before I went down. And I watched the other hunter die. Would the rogue and mage still have been able without that extra damage from me? Maybe, I dont know. But I was able to crank out more damage at a time when we needed every bit of damage we could get, because of a racial often thought of as useless.
3) Soloing. A pack of 5 mobs. Cant avoid them. You trap one, turtle grabs the others with mend pet up, and you try to burn one down so you can heal through damage. You cant kill it in time, and your pet dies, and you FD. You try again, this time adding the step of dropping a snake trap where turtle will be tanking the mobs, hoping killing the snakes will distract them long enough, but still it fails. Third time, same as before, but pop both mend pet AND GotN on the pet, and he lives long enough to get one down, so that regular mend pet can handle the damage.
As for the 1% hit buff being overridden by shammies and other draenei--sure that happens. But, imo, no hunter should run at 7% with the expectation of getting hit that way. There are just too many fights where range is key to the fight, and you dont know if you will be within 40yards of the one shaman on your team. Of course, if there are 5-6 spacegoats in your 25man, you are probably safe, but if there is 1-2, I wouldnt bank on it.
That said, racials are one of those things I am sure you get addicted to, whichever you have. A good player of every class/race makes use of whatever is available to them, (except, you know, treasure finding) and I can easily see the advantages of Nelf, Dwarf, and soon to be Human and Worgen racials.

Like I said, i think everyone gets addicted to the racials they play most. On my dwarf I seriously miss the old stoneform.
In the PvE I was describing, I was taking no direct damage, just the leeching swarm--which is more than enough. Gift kept me up through it, especially coupled with aspect of the wild.
As for the hit, T9 was swimming in hit, and the racial was useless. T10 is a bit hit-starved, and I imagine most nelf/dwarf hunters will need either a yellow and an orange hit gem or 3 orange hit gems--depending on which non-tier pieces they get, of course. I myself have had to plan very carefully to make sure I will get non-tier with hit so I dont come up hit-short even with the racial. Hit is very situational--however, it is less situational, imo and i could be wrong, than a gun/bow specialization.
Let me explain. For each armor slot, there are several alternative pieces you can equip there. Many of which are purchasable through emblems or craftable. Therefore, you can "control" your hit to an extent, by planning ahead and aiming for 7% (if you are a draenei) and taking full advantage of your racial to not have to gem or enchant for hit. Weapons depend solely on drops. And if the bis isnt what you have a racial for, then your racial is useless, and no planning can compensate for it. Even if the BiS IS something a gun/bow which you have a racial affinity for, you then have to hope it drops. Moreover, if you are a dwarf with a gun, and a better bow/xbow drops, you are gonna use it, because 1% crit isn't as good as more damage/stats. But I can look at 2 belts, otherwise equal, but one has 30 hit & 30 crit and the other has 30 crit and 30 armor pen, and say "i'll take the armor pen, please!"

k again good points, and cool, its just my opinion as a former draenei hunter. I have played both dwarf hunter and NE hunter extensively, and i just believe that for hunters, draenei have the worst. dont miss the racials one bit.
It is all personal preference of course.
Also, lets not forget base stats. A quick input into femaledwarf.com shows (Alliance races only), that if I were a Nelf I would do 15dps more damage through increased agility, and as a dwarf I would do 2.6 less dps through decreased intellect. The dwarf compensates slightly by increased stam, however, a MM hunter would probably see a larger drop by playing a dwarf.
Is it enough to not play what you like? IMO absolutely not. I am not going to go nelf or insist that any dwarf changes his race to raid with me. Nelf females have #$%^ty dances and man-hands :(
However, before focused aim, draenei really did fall much farther short of nelfs. But I still played one :)
