Does Blood DPS scale better than Unholy DPS?

It's a matter of percentages.
Supposedly, Blood reaches a point where ArP becomes so crazily good with ArP that it is an absolute monster on single-target. While it's true Unholy does scale well, the ArP we're collecting on gear is good for about 60% of Unholy's damage versus Blood utilizing it on almost 80%. Unholy, for the time being since 3.3.3 may change this, likes Strength better. It's a matter of which stat scales better in your gear.

Unholy scales amazingly good.
Blood "may" outdps Unholy in some case where the buffs are not there in 10m, but Unholy will blow Blood in 25m.

Do you see the error in your logic? It depends on the raid setting. Self buffed, Unholy does more DPS than Blood even if it has lesser gear because Ebon Plague (13% extra magic damage, and Unholy's DPS is like 50-60% magic damage) and 30% extra disease damage > 10%AP. So if you were in a group with no WF or Sunders, then its GG Blood. But as you get more gear (higher ArP and better weapon) then Blood will probably surpass IMO. Think of it like Hunters, Surv is better at lower gear levels as its mainly magic damage and less weapon dependant, but Marksmanship takes the cake at higher gear levels and ArP levels.)
Error in my logic? You are agreeing with me on pretty much all points.
The problem with this all is that the scaling is different for the specs. Unholy has more percentage-based scaling (30% disease damage, 13% magic damage, 10% and 15% DC damage, a Ghoul that scales well with Str, flat 2% and 5% DPS increases, etc.) whereas Blood is more static (Blood-Gorged is effectively 140 ArP rating, Bloodworms do not scale with gear and the bulk of the scaling talents are relying entirely on weapon damage, a limiting factor).
The other issue versus Blood's scaling is that for a great number of Blood DKs, they are asked to use Hysteria on Feral Druids or MM Hunters instead of themselves as they benefit much, much more from it.
As a note, Unholy is ~40% magic damage, not 50 or 60 anymore. This is why I said ArP only affects around 60% of UH's damage versus Blood's 80%.
All of this being said, it is being postulated that as Blood approaches the ArP hard cap it can scale beyond Unholy's single-target potential. Time will tell, though.

I recommend you do read what I had written. I was defending Unholy's scaling. I AM Unholy
; I've been playing Unholy for well over 13 months now, even when Diseaseless Blood (blech) was king.
I go Blood DPS for Heroics so I can see just how retarded DS and HS hit (and because it's slightly better for BQL).

Unholy's going to scale better with ArP come next patch, since they're making the physical portion of SS hit harder and the shadow portion weaker. Keeps getting better and better for unholy. Blood hasn't changed for a long time.
Yes, it's improving. By 0.56%.
