So me and a friend are going to some arena fights, he's going to be a Tree (Resto Druid if you didn't know) and I'm wondering what I should be.
Since he's going to be a healing spec I would assume I shouldn't go Resto myself, which leaves Elemental or Enhancement.
I have played with both specs, and currently in a PvE Elemental Spec... I've never been in a PvP spec.
I enjoy both specs, which makes it near impossible for me to choose what would be a good spec to go with my friends resto Druid.
I WOULD try both damage specs in a PvP spec, but I have no PvP gear, and Since I have a heap of honor, or would have a heap of honor thanks to those Stone things... (trade in some to get some honor.... In WG) but Not enough to buy enough gear to try both specs... So it's a Pick one go with it thing.
So, I need help... What spec (Please link for me please.) should I go with?
I have heard that both specs are a pain with a resto Druid, and both a very fun with their last talent ability (Spirit Wolves and Thunderstorm... Oh I love thunderstorm... Gnomes Flying of cliffs, whats not to love)
So Help me WoWHead people... your my only hope...
and my friend is no help either... "Go with the one that does the best DPS and can live the longest"...

Hi Rayer, I come from playing Restoration in 2s with a DK and playing a double healer setup in 3s. I also play on Bloodlust (BG9) if that warrants any credit.
Anyway, from my experience in 2s, DPS shamans are unfortunately a rarity due to the extremely low survivability it has. Any healer will have extreme difficulty in healing a shaman that is being trained by a DPS class. I won't go through all the specifics of what is viable and what is not because you can find that on ArenaJunkies or other forums. If you're set on playing Druid/Shaman, I can provide you some Pros/Cons on what each spec offers and then let you decide for yourself.
Enhancement Talents
Spirit Wolves Cooldown: Should be blown early to get an edge on the other team. Increases DPS significantly,
allows for a 2 sec stun
,
provides minor healing
, causes panic on the other team when they see two huge wolves and
removes snare effects
.
Shamanistic Rage: 1 minute cooldown, reduces all damage taken by 30%, can be used while stunned, allows you to regenerate nearly all your mana.
Frozen Power: When casting Frost Shock, Freezes the target in place if they're >15 yards from you.
Earthen Power: Removes all snares from you and your druid when it pulses.
Maelstrom Weapon: Allows for burst damage, Instant Healing, or Instant CC through Hex. However, stacks can be purged/dispelled.
Elemental Talents
Astral Shift: Reduces all incoming damage by -30% while Silenced,Stunned, or Feared.
Storm Earth and Fire: Allows your Earthbind Totem to Root targets in place for 5 seconds. You will be using this VERY often. Pulls druids/rogues out of stealth if they're in range.
Thunderstorm: Speaks for itself. Aids in Peeling targets from your Druid, Can be a lifesaver on elevated ground against Melee combined with Frostshock for its slow effect.
Overall, depending on your play style, you have two options: 1. Constant/Consistent Pressure, or 2. Kite and Run to create Burst-CC opportunities.
Note: Both specs require significant resilience. As DPS you should be aiming for at least 800 resilience to give your druid some ramp-up time with HoTs. Enhancement requires you to acquire two hard-hitting melee weapons. You can try a two-hand weapon, but many reasons show that one-handers are always better. Since you're elemental, i'm assuming you won't have many melee weapons.
Also Note: Elemental requires you to be very Patient with killing opportunities. Depending on how much Spellpower you have, it can be very difficult to score killing blows being the sole DPS on the team. The majority of your playing style will have to be from CC'ing one and Bursting the other.
Hope this helps, and sorry for the wall o' text.
