In general, making macros for hunter shot "rotations" (which we don't really use any more) isn't going to make a huge difference in dps. Truth be told, it takes a little more work than that for ANY class to perform at peak. Or, even, to marginally improve one's dps.
Might I suggest an add-on like Watcher? You can set up a priority-list for the shots and it will display when the cool down is up and what the highest dps choice is going to be. This can be a great way to learn the "feel" of a shot priority sequence. I know it helped me when I swapped specs and needed to learn a new sequence. This will be especially helpful if your wife is a visual learner.
Head out to the target dummies and practice away and she'll get the hang of it.
In terms of macros (fight specific strats may require you to change some of these):
-Macro Silencing Shot to Chimera, Aimed, Multi, Steady and Arcane (if you're still using it). It's off the GCD and it's just more dps. Remove if you need to your silence for strat reasons.
-Don't macro Serpent Sting and Chimera in a /castsequence. Chimera resets the duration so there should be no need to have serpent in a macro. Hit it once at the start and then only if it drops off the mob for some reason.
Hope that helps.
