Hello everyone!
Aesuga on Firetree US.
Armory Link:
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Firetree&cn=Aesuga
Recently my shaman hit 49.07% unbuffed crit which equated to 67%-68% raid buffed crit.
I use Rawr a lot and it told me to gem hit. I am assuming I hit the crit cap based on my hit%. Therefore would gemming hit increase the crit cap?
In my mind thats how it worked out. I gemmed hit in my shoulders and neck piece so I am at 13.72% melee hit. (As rawr suggested) Im about to swap out the hit gem in my helm back to haste.
Current unbuffed stats:
13.72% melee hit (about to drop slightly with new haste gem in helm)
21.88% unbuffed haste
48.09% crit (I dropped 1% crit from switching my weapons. originally x2 Frost cleaver but am now using Abomination Knuckles for haste)
Just to recap on a few questions:
Is gemming hit because of crit cap wise? Why not attack power instead?
Abomination knuckles vs. Frost cleaver? I suppose the haste from Abom knuckles is better than the crit from Frost Cleaver.
Thanks for your time fellow shamans :P I love our melee dps!

There will be a point when we all want to stack Hit because we simply have so much crit that we're reaching the white crit cap. Wuzzuuuuuup has it correct to the best of my knowledge. It's tricky simply because of the crit "depression" he speaks off and because we get a large chunk of crit (9%) from a buff, although it's uptime should be around 70-80%, so you can basically just add it to your base crit chance.
I tested out Tiny Abom in a Jar with my current gear last night and found it underwhelming simply because I'm not THERE yet (when hit becomes really, really good). For now, stick with the AP/haste combos as you will, make sure that you're capped on spell hit and expertise and you'll be fine. Once you start (if you start) doing ICC HM content, then you can worry more about crit cap and what to do about it.

Don't ever gem for crit or agil. Again, only gem for AP/haste, be aware that as you get more and more gear (properly itemized) that you will probably be nearing the crit cap in the ideal raid environment.

/script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Room below crit cap: "..100-(27-(GetCombatRatingBonus(6)+6))-(24)-(GetCritChance()+3)
This is from elitist jerks and uses your current crit rating. Pop down strength of earth totem, get kings, then take away 14 from the result (Ele Devastation + LotP).
Also, I disagree about the critcap only being an issue once you reach ICCHM. With the amount of crit I have on my Shaman i'm overcapped by about 0.4% - although I use WFS and don't have the marrowgar25 ring. You should plan the critcap before you hit it.
