Worth coming back pre-cataclysm?

So I've been a longterm WoW player, off and on since beta. I tend to drop off a bit before the next expansion comes out.
I played Wrath up through Ulduar and quit sometime while that was endgame. Been getting a bit of the wow bug again, but wondering if there's much worth coming back for that is different, or should I just wait til Cataclysm and get a totally fresh start?
If I come back, probably wouldn't be for much raiding, though I may dabble in some 10-man stuff. Is the content left worth it for an ex-Death Knight? Maybe even for levelling an alt?
Cheers.

Sure. Why not?

The only way to know for sure is to try it out yourself. :\

My answer: No.
Don't listen to him.
WotLK is better now than ever. You get triumph badges from heroics, making it much easier to get into raiding again.

I may give it a try, I was mostly curious if there were many new mechanics or balancing changes, will probably have to spend some time reading about my class before I try playing it again. I'm aware of the new dungeon-finder mechanic, but haven't really kept up with wow news since I haven't played in months.

For 10 man raiding? Sure. You left before the new 5-mans were released, so that content will be new for you as well. For alt-leveling, the new LFD tool makes it much easier to get into old-world and TBC-era instanced dungeons, and opens up the possibility of leveling from 15-80 through instances alone. You can also gain XP from battlegrounds now, which is another interesting wrinkle for leveling an alt.
Raid-wise, Trial of the Crusader and Icecrown Citadel 10-mans are good fun. Trial is a fun way to pass an evening if you have a good group, and Icecrown progress offers a nice variety of fights. Blood Princes in particular is a fun fight, especially for ranged DPS who have to keep the orbs up. The novelty of the Airship fight alone is probably worth reactivating for a month and seeing how you like it.

So I re-subscribed, and I am actually pretty glad I did, so thanks for the advice both ways.
Saved me from having to buy Cataclysm to try WoW again when that comes out, because my god...the game is so dumbed down now. Heroics take like 5 minutes and give 25-man level rewards, you may as well just queue for epics. It was nice to see some familiar faces again, but I didn't expect things to have got so incredibly easy in just a handful of months.
So thanks for the advice both ways, it was the smarter decision cause it was $15 for a month vs the price of cataclysm + a month.

Well, you never know how Cataclysm is going to be until you actually try it out for yourself. Nobody knows whether the game is going to get harder or easier. You can pass judgment on how the game is right now, but come Cataclysm, it might be a different story.
