1) Delete your WTF folder.
2) Reset your keybinds to default.
3) Bind Sprint to Shift+X.
4) Once you open up on an opponent, press the following combination quickly: W W S A D D Space W D S A A.

Unlike casters, we can use all our abilities while moving, it's all about exploiting that fact :P
The trick is keybinding your abilities. That way you can look around and use them at the same time.
I play with permanent mouselook on (just move the mouse to look around, no need to hold right click)... i grew up on fps games, it's just better this way.

Sprint increases your movement speed, but doesn't increase the rate at which the server updates your location. This can create the illusion of teleporting around if you mash your movement keys.

Hey is that permanent mouselook (where you don't need to hold the right mouse button down) an addon? I would really like to try that out, sounds like it would help a good bit.
No look in your interface. You might find it there. But then again it might be elusive since your a rogue and vanish on you.

Hey is that permanent mouselook (where you don't need to hold the right mouse button down) an addon? I would really like to try that out, sounds like it would help a good bit.
At its most basic level all you need is a macro:
/run if IsMouselooking() then MouselookStop() else MouselookStart() end
However, I use a heavily customised version of
http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info10036-MouseLookLock.html
to suit my needs.
The addon works as-is but it binds left/right click in the process which isn't what I want. The only part of this I actually use is the frame scanning, which automatically turns off mouselook when certain frames are open (bags, quest, map, LFD popup, readycheck, character info, etc) though I've heavily modified the list it uses.
I have Mouse 1 bound to mutilate using...
SetMouseLookOverrideBinding("BUTTON1", "MACRO Mut");
"Mut" is a macro I have:
/cast Cheap Shot
/cast Mutilate
This works great because when mouselook is on, button1 is attack, when it's off it's a normal click... and it's togglable during combat.
I have mouse button 6 bound to toggle mouse look.
edit: I can't spell

Hopefully this isn't so old as to be considered reviving a truly dead thread but it is probably abit of a hijack.
Used the methods described by DoomEU for mouse looking and binding mouse1 and mouse2 to macros. Editing the addon to execute macros is quite the breeze with his added statement on how to call the macro itself, even for those without any programming experience.
Tried this out on my leveling rogue and managed to get comfortable using it.
Testing it on greens for awhile as I leveled lock picking. It changes the feel of even just running around killing mobs and adds a lot of mobility. No more trying to hit say button 4, run forward, strafe right, and mouse turn left to circle.
I hit most of my core abilities with a couple macros, though I may want to change some of them around to avoidance cool downs instead of what they're at now.
My setup currently is:
Mouse1:
From stealth: cheap shot, modified by shift: garrotte
Unstealthed: sinister strike, modified by shift: eviscerate, modified by alt: slice and dice, modified by control: kidney shot
Mouse2:
unmodified: castsequence of kick, blind, gouge
modified by shift: blade flurry
modified by alt: dismantle
modified by ctrl: adrenaline rush
Mouse4: mouselook toggle bind
Really the only things i'm using that i feel i'm missing are: stealth, vanish, pick pocket
TLDR; DoomEU's mod suggestion and changes are pretty awesome, try it

Glad my post was useful :) I agree that it changes the feel of the game... makes gameplay more smooth for me and gives me a much greater sense of control.
I really can't play without it now. I often play on my girlfriend's or friend's pcs... I've gone so far as to make macros which run all the "SetMouseLookOverrideBinding" commands, along with the simple mouselook macro in my last post. It's nowhere near as good as being at home (especially since they just have standard 2 button + scroll wheel mice...) but it's better than not having mouselook on during combat :)
Nice ideas on the modifiers..
At the moment my full mouse set up is:
button 1: cheap shot, mutilate
Though I think i'll copy you and add a modifier for garotte. All of my finishers are bound to keys so I think i'll keep unstealthed button1 as simple mutilate.
button 2: sap, kick/gouge castseqeuence
button 3 (middle mouse): unused. I have an MX revolution but sometimes the press just doesn't register.
button 4: toggle auto run
I like to be able to run around without touching the keyboard
button 5: Vanish; toggle stealth
button 6: toggle mouse look
scroll wheel up/down: target next/previous enemy
Because I have a fancy mouse ;), I have a scroll wheel on my thumb too.. which I have bound to:
down: pvp trinket
up: dismantle
click: health potion; bandage
As you can see.. I set it all up for PvP... I had the intention of doing more BGs but never felt the inclination, heh... maybe when daily battlegrounds are out....

Ahh, nice mouse.
I'm using a Razer Death Adder so I've got 5 buttons.
I think I'll try my mouse wheel to tab target. That sounds like it should work well.
Though, as I recall, the mouse wheel is a bit sensitive on my mouse.
Not sure what to put Mouse3 as. I've always found it hard to click and not scroll the wheel so I may leave it be.
I guess that leaves me one button to macro my stealth, vanish, and pick pocket into.
I plan to remake my macros as I go along and hit pvp at a little higher level.
Do you have those all bound similarly in the addon's files or elsewhere?
I haven't dealt with much key rebinding as I've usually clicked anything outside of 1 - 5 and F1 to F5.

I use the addon Bindpad (there are other possibly better binding addons but i find bindpad easy to use) for setting up anything which isn't for mouse looking only.
I need Button 1 and Button 2 to be the default actions when mouse looking is off, so I use SetMouseLookOverrideBinding in the addon itself for those.. everything else I do through bindpad... which means they're the same whether I'm mouselooking or not.

Sounds reasonable to me.
I'll look into it to finish up my mouselook goodness.
Hopefully someone else gets interested and tries it out due to our discussion, it's been quite fun even for just the little while I've had to test it.
Thanks for the tips, DoomEU.
