Im all for it if it screws over gold sellers/botters/hackers I never have and never will do it but I frequent a forum thats all about hacking and such in wow just to see how they go about and doing it. And Im surprised blizz cant do a better job at it, they mostly just use very simple programs and you would figure they would have something like Steam where it detects if youre running 3rd party programs for wow and it would just keep killing your connection to the game until you disabled said program.

If they reduce minerals and plants, etc., they will just become more valuable on the AH. They could reduce the value of grey items sold to npc's, but would that have a serious effect?
If they want to kill gold selling it is a simple matter. Simply make all AH transactions anonymous, and allow 'virtual' npc's to sell any item someone attempts to purchase for an outrageous amount. So if someone want to pay 1000 gold for a flower from an anonymous seller, the 'virtual npc' intercepts the bid and sell the buyer a flower for 1000 gold. The original seller keeps their flower and 1000 gold goes into the ether which help the economy.
This would pretty much kill gold sales without destroying the economy, although it would require some backend processing to calculate reasonable prices for every single sellable item.

Summary : New update favours grouping instead of solo-ing, possible reason, to reduce botting/gold selling? In the future, will doing insta's be a more viable source of income than solo farming?
All they're doing is giving you a use for all those Frozen Orbs you're now getting. They're not trying to make grouping better than soloing.
With the LFD system, people are doing more 5-man's than ever. Frozen Orbs are stacking up, and many players have nothing to do with them. Now, they will.
It's just like how they introduced the Disenchant option for loot. Didn't you notice the price on Infinite Dust instantly drop drastically because suddenly EVERYONE has all this Infinite Dust even though they aren't an enchanter or have no enchanter friends?
Basically, you're just reading WAY too far into this decision.

Now I'm not a botter myself (Hell, even if I were, I'd not post that here), but from what I've seen the new patch can also be seen as a stab to botters.
Many of them obtain gold trough farming, and Eternal's is one of the big money-makers
, and gathering. With the new patch, gold made by farming will be reducded, and the same will happen to herbalism.
In contrast to that, the reward for doing dungeons will be "increased", making the economy depend slighty more in insta's over solo-content. I wonder if making it harder for gold sellers was part of Blizzard's motivation, and if so do you think more "farmable" items will be moved to insta's, to reduce the gain of botting?

ROFL.
1. Hacking/scamming
2. Mining+herbalism botting
3. Sniping
Eternal farming is for the non-botters..

I'd prove you wrong, but I don't want to link to bot-sites. If it provides income for non-botters, wouldn't it provide income to botters as well?
It does, but since it's not the best way to make money.. Check out UnholyShamans guide on mmowned, or the vids from wowinfinity.. No one farms eternals anymore

I would think that by killing the bots you would increase hacking. While there might be some people that use bots for their personal use, most are connected to gold sellers and chances are those same outfits are also involved in hacking accounts. Take away the bots thus removing part of their in-game/RL income they now have to increase their hacking efforts to make up for the revenue loss.
I wonder if it would be possible to instead of banning an account which is not a big issue, could the actual copy of the game being used be banned? Since there is a key code connected to every copy of WoW that is downloaded, could Blizzard once they determined an account is being used to bot/hack/gold sell, trace it back to the actual game copy being used and somehow ban that key code disabling that copy of WoW? It would seem to me that it would be much more of a hassle and costly to have to keep buying new copies of WoW.

/facepalm. No. Not how it works.
Your key code is tied to your
account
. There is nothing tied to your WoW client. Your client is the same as everyone else's.
I'm too tired to explain it well, but no.

I was told different a while back so I was just going off that information which seems to be misinformation. If nothing else I guess it was a nice thought.

2. Mining+herbalism botting
and why do you think that's so profitable?

I don't see how it will hurt them all that much. If that's really what is behind this change it's basically a cop out. Prices will just go up because botters/hackers aren't the ones purchasing enchants, epic gems, and BOEs. If anything it will make their jobs easier.

2. Mining+herbalism botting
and why do you think that's so profitable?
Because it can be done without having to pay someone to do it manually. Given that they run underground most of the time, there's zero chance of them being camped by players or killed by mobs, so all the botters need, is someone to run through their bots every couple of hours to see if their bags are full. Once they are, off to a mail box they go.

They don't even have to do that much. Silverbolt claims that thit will signal an alarm on the PC to alert you and even automatically mail the goods. A bot program like this seems like it is aimed straight at the gold sellers, although I suspect that the China based gold sellers simply have their employees play as legitimately as possible. Too many bots can add up in costs once they are caught and banned.

Really I think you are overthinking how much this change is going to affect the prices and avaliabilty of Lotus' and Eternals. After just a short time, Old Fashioned farming is still going to be the best way to gather these items.
Right now, most of us have a pretty good stash of Orbs in the bank, only because they have been essentialy worthless to this point. After that stash is used up, you have to look at the time that it will take to get 1 Orb vs. normal farming. You only have 1 shot at an orb per Heroic run, and then only a 1 in 5 chance of getting that Orb.
I know when I am out picking flowers, I usually can expect 4 or 5 FL's in around an hour, and many times, I get more than that. So, whats the better option, MAYBE get 2 or 3 in an hour, or be SURE to get 5 or more?
