That trinket, if gemmed pure Int, would give 82 Int and a use that's worth 39 MP/5.
This
gives 84 Int and a proc that's worth ~50-55 MP/5. I don't see that as being worth it, especially when
EJ
states it as the bottom of the list of trinkets (I personally put it in the middle, as I pay more attention to regen and less to throughput, but either way the blue doesn't hold its own).
However, you're right - GS is used by a lot of people, and while it's a decent tool for what it does (tell you how high the ilvls are on a person's gear) it doesn't factor in lower ilvl gear with better stat selection. If people are using only GS to determine your status, it's a fail group. But, if you want to inflate your GS, get pieces with a higher ilvl (for example the 245 libram) for a "GS set" and then get the pieces that are actually good for your class for a "heal set." Log out in your GS set and keep the healing set for when you're in an encounter.

When comparing gear on wow-heroes to Holy Paladins on my server, I go through them and typically do this, "Bad libram, disqualified, bad libram, carried, bad libram, baddie, oh... Libram of Renewal, I guess at least
he's
ahead of me." : )

GS =/= competence
GS =/= skill
GS =/= BiS
GS = GS
BiS > GS
If they want you to throw an inflated GS at the tank in the hopes they'll be healed for that amount then more power to them, if they want you to heal the tank as best you can then you'd have better luck in gear with superior itemization for you (BiS)
Asking for a bear minimum GS as a very vague synopses of what your overall gear is most likely capable of is fine, asking for an inflated GS that you can barely achieve for the content in question with the belief that GS > all is just asinine and they should go wanting.
Perfect examples of GS fails in general, not just for Holy or just for Paladins even...

Can you please explain how a little crit(1.2% rounded) is better than all that extra mana and mp/5?
