Question: With the change upcoming to the Life Tap, should I begin changing all my spirit gems to Spell Power, that way I can enjoy the DPS boost, and wait on the change. Or should I go ahead and keep my gems the way they are and then change em when the 3.3.3.3.3.3.3 drop.

question is... at what point are you currently having to decide between more spellpower or more spirit and choosing spirit?

Not quite /threat.
Am I the only one who thinks the LT change is utterly stupid? Health loss scales with spi but mana gain scales with SP, WTF? So having more spi means absolutely nothing for my mana gain but it will make me lose more health? Spi is then completely worthless for regen and all it does is hurt our health by making LT take a larger chunk out of it.
What's the point?

I'm a little nervous about the conversion not going quite as well as we all hope. Issues will crop up. Class balance can be a problem. And we warlocks, being so definitely different from other classes, often get the short end of the stick on several situations. (Such as, the removal of class-specific gear, for standardized caster gear for us and two other classes which have a totally different approach)

they are changing things and you're worried. that's not a warlock thing that's just fear of change and that fear should be suppressed because change in MMOs is life-blood.
the patch before each expansion release brings MANY changes. the patch before tBC released brought us felguards (there was no demo specific pet before and demo was very weak) and for a while we were incredibly powerful. just before wrath launched warlocks were OP. we had a destro spec that killed their own pets and spammed shadow bolts, topping every meter in sight. the wrath patch killed that spec and warlocks moaned that they were underpowered.
(we weren't, we'd just been balanced and things had changed too quickly for people to get a handle on how to play - the good thing was that it sent the FotM kids packing)
the next expansion will change lots of things. we'll have to adjust, make new stickies, re-test every assumption. it's going to be a lot of fun.
what we REALLY don't need to worry about is spirit on gear. that's just silly.

Aye... and I'm sure Blizzard will be putting forth effort to correct problems which might accidentally be created. But, they don't always correct some issues as immediately as might be desired. Yes, I'm giving some power to my fears, before I'm even dealing with a real, measurable situation.
And yeah... I've had a hard time, explaining to the two other main warlocks in my guild, why MP/5 is a no-no. One even went so far as to get the MP/5 ring from the Ashen Verdict, after getting the proper rep.
"But it's mana regeneration!"
"You
don't want
to regenerate mana... You want to Life Tap."
"I do that too."
"So, what purpose is MP/5, when you can shift X amount of health into X amount of mana? (Or, X * 1.2, in the case of Afflictolocks!)"
"It's STILL mana!"

/facepalm
just tell them that mp5 is a healer stat and all dps casters have class specific methods for generating mana. if that doesn't work, tell them that they're idiots - not productive but cathartic.

Or tell them to ask for their money back from whoever sold them the accounts
