Has anyone read the compliant they filed? It is hilarious for all the wrong reasons.

I saw that...Dear god.

Say what you want but this is pretty much standard fare for anyone remotely involved with this company. They have ruined so many IPs and this will be just another notch in their belt.
Should change the name to Activism.

Does that mean that there will be problems between Activision and Blizzard, then? How should I know? But, if you can't see how they've affected Blizzard already there isn't much point in discussing it anyway.
sadly no i avoid legal documents when possible can i have a tldr? It's borderline libelous, but it does put the burden of proof on Activision to show just cause for breach of contract. The filing is somewhat spectacular, obviously written for an audience, but unless they were demonstrably out of line, I don't see why they wouldn't sue. It's one thing to get in on the ground floor on an IP for cheap, it's quite another to bully people out of what they are entitled to.
I haven't read the MOU they cite in the filing so I don't know exactly who has the upper hand in terms of the IP and exactly what would constitute insubordination, but anyone who has been paying attention to these companies over the past several years knows this has been a love/hate relationship almost from the beginning.

Bobby Kotick is the devil.
On topic: it was a rather ridiculous claim against Infinity Ward. I believe it's just Activision trying to get sole claim to the Call of Duty franchise.

More specifically, control of the engine used to make Modern Warfare as it pertains to the Call of Duty brand.
The only game I have seen survive a brush with Activision like this was Sid Meier's Civilization, but luckily they weren't able to brand it under that name, so the IP remained viable, even though it never became the superstar it probably should have been.

I hate that game, and Sid Meier self promotes way to much.

Those are the things people respond to. Marketing is useless without something substantial behind it. People don't forget buying a bad product.

My 2 cents:
This happens when bigger companies like "Activision blizzard" buy some company who was already being successful and leading towards more success. Practically, they played a game with infinity ward and left it alone when they got what they needed.
That right there, is a lesson to me and others who plan on starting their own game studio.
EDIT: Now they should sued for treating the co-founders of IW unfairly.
