Seriously, how is WoW being dumbed down!

A large number of threads I'm reading lately have people whining about WoW being dumbed down and just getting dumber. Can someone explain this to me, preferably with some sort of evidence?
I see WoW being made simpler, but simple does not equal dumb. Integrating stats is not the same as removing them. You would think with the way some people are crying is that Blizz is removing all the stats and all characters will have just one number that will be the value of all their abilities.
Also, easier does not equal dumber. Not having to do hours upon hours of questing just to get raid gear doesn't make the game dumb. It may arguably make the game easier, or at least quicker, that is actually for the better for most the game's players.
When the game picks my talents for me and the gear I wear, then I'll say it's being dumbed down (though really I would say at that point it's trying to dumb me down). Until then, there's got to be something better to cry over.

i must honestly agree with ya there, as a genius once said "wow was never hard, just time consuming". Personally i dont dislike it being easier, wether its to get gear or such. But i guess its that many of the skilled players doesn't like that the raiding itself have been made easier so MORE people can play it. Personally im very happy that Blizz made it easy enough for most people to enjoy the raids instead of only having those dedicated to raiding getting to see it and getting the gear. Those people forget that WoW is a game not a job or anything. Sure if you worked hard on something and another guy gets it for free, you may feel a bit tricked. Even though you worked hard for your upgrade not the gear itself

It's dumbed down and easier from it's previous states in the sense that a alot of tasks are much less time consuming
Reducing the amount of time that it takes to accomplish something does not automatically equate to "dumbing it down". The length of time it used to take to acquire decent gear did not make the game challenging - only monotonous.

unless they're referring to questing, which has become considerably easier since outlands...but that doesn't = dumbed down.
Correct. Dumbed-down would be if they changed it so that every class pushed a single button over and over again, and whomever pushed it the fastest won the battle; streamlining quests and making it so you don't have to traipse over the entire virtual world to deliver Darnassian feminine products to Bettylou Bronzebeard in Ironforge doesn't make the game less challenging.

Heck ya! I remember back in vanilla chess you started with just three pawns and you had to win game after game for a chance of other peices to drop! It took me 4 months to get my bishop and now these casuals are running around with rooks as soon as they get a chessboard. Milton-Bradley totally caters to casuals just to line their own pockets. Makes me sick.
Win. :)

The people complaining about the "dumbing down" of the game don't see the real issue: the over-analyzing of the game. If you just play the game, with no outside help (no wowhead, wowwiki, spreadsheets, youtube videos, leveling guides, etc.) I am sure you will find this game to be more than challenging enough. Yeah, sure, if 25 people all saw hours of videos on how to down a boss, and have exactly the spec and gear they need for maximum dps/heals, and have the ideal raid composition as told to them by people who spend countless hours on the PTR, then yes, the game is pretty easy. It better be in that case, or it would be impossibly hard otherwise.
If you want a challenge, wait til Cata, make a Worgen or Goblin in a class you have never played before, and just play it. No guides, no spreadsheets, no videos, no add-ons (questhelper, map coords, etc) nothing. I think you will find it is a totally different game when you don't know exactly where to go, what to do, and how to do it ahead of time.

Pretty much.

Being able to spend days or even weeks farming a single piece of gear does not mean you have skill, just time.
The fact the game is faster doesn't phase me in the slightest and makes it more fun.
The only thing I think that has genuinely been dumbed down at all is gear quality. I had nothing against raids being the only place to get purples outside of rare world drops, now purple is so common we almost don't even need blue gear between green and purple.

I would have to disagree. The majority in here are just stating that while the game is more accessible then ever its not "dumber" in the truest sense of the word. Except for a few bitter people seems like most people either don't mind the direction the game is taking or think its a good change.
I personally think that the game is shifting but in a good way. Theres a niche for everyone. Altaholics can level with ease and enjoy doing it. Heroics are there for those who just want that "epic dungeon" feel. Non heroic raids are there for social raiding guilds. Heroic Raids are avalible for the high end players similar to what Naxx40 was back in the day.
In fact th only group who the game doesn't directly cater toward now is hardcore 10m raiders but I've stated this was an issue in the PvE forums and thats not a game issue its a community perception issue.
The only reason you would see the current game as "dumb" is because you want to lay about dalran in your ICC25 epics and laugh at people struggling through Ulduar the way it was back in Vanilla.
I'm sorry but leaving people behind because you were there at the start of the expansion =/= skill on your part.

that is why people say that the game is getting dumbed down. And its not that they are saying its dumb, but in terms that being dumbed down they are saying that anyone can do it now and it is getting easy. it doesn't take any skill any more to play.
It never took skill to begin with. It took being there at the start. Running through dungeons then running through early raids weren't hard.
This game never was "hard" Back in Vanilla it was a number game. Could you gather 40 people on the same tier of gear as you? That was the question not if they could kill bosses or not because half your raid could ride the short bus to the raid and die in the first minute of a fight.
BC its the same thing Normals -> heroics -> raids.
If you were a month or 2 behind reaching 70 good luck finding a raiding guild willing to take you. Thats not skill thats investing a lot of time and not taking any break.
Enter Wrath. Now if your late to the party you can gear up for current level content and join the elitists. People say "knowing your class". Thats garbage as long as you have a will to learn you can learn to raid. Theres no mystical journey people have to be sent on to be holy enough to join your raids. Once they ding 80 if you run some heroics with them if they take criticism well refer them to EJ. Its not that hard.
Your just the kind of person who refuses to help people learn to help themselves. You want people to know where to go to learn on their own which they wont. This game was never hard its just more accessible High end raiders were never guaranteed better then anyone else in Vanilla or BC. The other people just didn't get a chance.
