- Time management, very fun to throw hours away on
World of Warcraft
- Wonderful, crisp and invigorating
Super Mario 64
- Long, challenging and difficult, and slightly scary
Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
- Scariest game I've ever played and finished
Banjo Kazooie
- Exactly just like SM64, except its more comical, frightening and spectacular in small ways

Yes, I definitely would, not because it's one of my top five favorite games (It's probably in the 20s or 30s somewhere), but because I've put so much time and energy into the game that it has shaped me as gamer and to a lesser degree as a person. The only other game to even come close to wow in that sense was pokemon crystal on my gameboy color.

Top 5? Well Ive been playing video games since the early early 80s.
WoW
Quake (all of them)
Unreal Tournament (I still play this for gits and shiggles)
Diablo (both)
Madden NFL
and really so many standup games/tabletop games/console/pc games that I have lost count.

I honestly think people who put WoW in their top 5 gaming experiences are mixing up "favorite" with "most invested". There are far more great games that would rank above WoW in anyone's view, but people see "I have spent 2-7 years playing this....so it must be the greatest gaming experience I have ever had!"
1: Final Fantasy 3(not japanese, not Final Fantasy 6, the one that was first released on EU/NA SNES, all it's bugs galore!)
2: Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past(Ocarina and MM as well, but I always come back to LthP. I hate the ones that have come afterwards on Gamecube, DS, and Wii.)
3: Megaman(any, spanning from NES to PS/2)
4: Pong 3D (the computer game that came out like in '01 or earlier)
5: Frogger 3D(the computer game that came at the same time as Pong 3D)
I look at "best gaming experience" as those games, that while aged, you will always come back to out of nostalgia of the great times you had playing them. I can't count the amount of times that I have played and replayed the games above, as well as hundreds more, all that would rank above WoW, in my opinion. But you look at WoW, and in 5 years, or however long it takes to die down for most people, the old players will very rarely, if ever, look back at it, other than to compare it positively or negatively to whatever current MMO they are playing. The only reason I still play WoW, is not because it is a great experience, but because it is a cheap form of entertainment in the years of economic issues that have been plaguing our country. It is fun, of course, otherwise I wouldn't play it. But it is more about spending $15 for an unlimited amount of entertainment time as opposed to going out every other night or buying a new game every few weeks.

Oh boy...this one's gonna show my age.
While WoW ranks pretty high, I don't think anything can top my NES: Super Mario Bro's experience.
I still say it was just a mere coincidence that I got horribly "sick" the same day I got my NES, and missed a full week of 6th grade:-) As an 80's kid, the NES was nothing short of amazing, it actually brought a video game that I played in the Arcade home. Sure, we had Atari 2600's, and I even had a Coleco-Vision...but those were all just watered down versions of Arcade games.....this was THE game, at MY house.
I played a little "table top" RPG's....mostly DnD, and went through a Star Trek RPG phase, but never really got quite "into" any of them.
Then, along came Magic:The Gathering. It combined collecting, strategy, fantasy, and Role-Playing, all in one. Lets just say, I went a little crazy at the card shop. Before I made the (now HUGE) mistake of selling about 75% of my Alpha and Beta cards, I had several thousand of these now crazy rare and expensive cards. Sadly, nearly all of my original cards were sold on eBay as random 10 packs, and I maybe made a few hundred bucks off all of them. This included at least a dozen each of Black Lotus', Mox cards, Chaos Orbs...you name it. I could probably buy a nice new car for what that collection would be worth today.
So, if I had to assign a top 5, I would say:
1. NES: Super Mario Bro's.
2. WoW
3. MtG Cards
4. MtG Online
5. Shot Online (Online Golf game that REALLY ate up some time when I was stuck in the office at my first business. Pretty fun game if you like golf. Its still around, and F2P, although is very microtransaction driven)

lol, I was wondering about the "opposite": How many people say WoW is among the most time-consuming, but not among the best games. For me, time investment and fun go hand in hand. If it weren't among the best games for me, I certainly wouldn't invest as much time. While I still absolutely love playing games like Super Mario Bros. or Mario Kart and I do so on a regular basis, I only play them for a fairly short amount of time each time before getting bored.
My top 5:
WoW
StarCraft 1+2
WarCraft 3
Diablo 1+2
Z

In no particular order:
WoW
Magic: the Gathering
Pokemon (all the main handheld games)
Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
I honesty can't really think of a fifth that stands out as much as the rest of these. Possibly League of Legends.

Diablo II - LOD
World of Warcraft
RIFT
Everquest 2
Runes of Magic
Diablo II for sure in #1 spot, I would spend days playing that game with people. WOW used to have the same magic, but ever since WOTLK I find myself only playing it in times of boredom. RIFT was an AWESOME game in beta and at launch and captured my attention until they released the silly LFD tool (world pvp----gone!). EQ2 and ROM I only played with some friends for short time, but I enjoyed them thoroughly.

COUNTING DOWN
5. Uncharted Series - It was just so immersive, funny, and breathtakingly beautiful.
4. God of War Series - Tell me how a badass demi-god killing all the gods and a few titans along the way isn't awesome?
3. Warcraft Series - Breathtakingly beautiful, immersive story line, and amazing artwork.
2. World of Warcraft - Amazing universe built up from my favorite game series. This MMO was basically the building blocks that many MMOs were built on.
1. The Last of Us - Words cannot describe the beautiful scenery, realistic cutscenes, and that horror feeling cut in your throat when you are forced to use your last bullets in a dark room. My favorite game of all time!

Once upon a time I might have said yes, but not anymore. I don't have the attention span needed for it, and a lot of things have changed that I don't like (for example, the talent trees).
I would rate mine as
Team Fortress 2
Fallout: New Vegas
Pokemon Ruby
LoZ: Majora's Mask
Pokemon X

I guess my list is the games that i have most enjoyed for their experience, how playable they are and do i go back to them time and again;
1 - Earth & Beyond
2 - World Of Warcraft
3 - Trackmania
4 - EvE Online
5 - New Wheels John
Earth & Beyond wasn't my first MMO but it was the first to give me a real feel of community in a game, from the help within the game itself to the strong offline support and passion. The only really sad thing about this game is that EA got hold of it and decided that it wasn't viable because it wouldn't bring them their magic 1Mill subscribers (what game would at that time?)
World of Warcraft has been with me now for a long time, my kids have literally grown up with the game as my youngest was only 5 when it came out and again, it has been a great community for me. I have made some great friends in there (and IRL) and again you cannot deny that it has a passionate offline community as well.
Trackmania is one of those games that i have gone back to time and time again over the years when i am burned out on everything else and just need a release. Love short track servers as it is a quick fix, requiring some skill and concentration and giving an instant buzz as you try and hit that no.1 spot.
Eve Online i have not played for a long time now, but again it is one that stays with me as it held a great sense of community within the corporation structure and some of the players there are also still friends in WoW today. I love how co-operation will move you on in the game, but personally i think that the mood of the game shifted heavily just as i left and there is little room for anyone other than ruthless players anymore and CCP seem to just go along with the loudest voices now rather than sticking to their original plans (maybe that is just bitterness talking, who knows).
New wheels john, for those who have no clue what i am talking about was an old spectrum game by Automata that allowed you to be a second had car dealer, buying from the public or at auctions, fixing up or bodging the cars for sale, could even roll back the mileage if you were brave enough. A very plain and simple game, but i still play it today, 29 years later, pure classic.

1. Counter-Strike (1.6)
2. World of Warcraft
3. Final Fantasy IX
4. Final Fantasy VII
5. Super Metroid
The games that I've put most time in, games that I can pick up anytime and feel like "Yeah it's been awhile since I played it, let's give it a try again!" and end up playing for several hours. Super Mario Brothers have a special place as it was the first game I ever finished. Even thou it doesnt add up to the time I've put on the other games. :)

WoW
bubble Bobble ( C64 version and Amiga)
Pirates ( c64 and Amiga versions )
Original the settlers ( C64 , amiga and PC versions)
All the SSI ADnD games ( C 64 and amiga versions )
The C64 and amiga versions I said above all featured much better gameplay then their PC counterparts at the time .
