he was there
the boss died
he had the highest roll.
there shouldnt even be a debate, theres only 3 reasons to do voa...frost emblem, achievements, and gear. You and the rl stole the 3rd from him, maybe he just hit 80? maybe he was a tank and just trying out dps for the first time, maybe he had crap gear for awhile. i remember on my pally i waited 10 months before i won a drop to upgrade a titansteel destroyer on my pally. you took away 60 emblems and a token 's worth of gear plain and simple. which if hes in a small guild that cant do icc 25 , then you really screwed him out of gear

There's honestly nothing wrong with it.
We don't know for sure, but if this guy is geared.. well.. if this guy is 80, then there's no excuse to pull 2k dps. None.
He didn't deserve it.
It means he wasn't trying/attempting to make up for his low gs by pulling as much as possible. He didn't break 2k dps. He didn't try.
Even if he got that drop, no way in hell would that compensate for his lack of player ability. The OP will put it to more use. I'd rather the OP got it then the fail tard, and had this happened in a raid with me, I would go along with it approvingly. VoA does not entitle afkers/bads to loot simply because RNG favored them.
Plus, the person in question didn't even complain about it, and just left. I'm pretty sure the OP is a-okay.

I have a confession.
VOA 25. 1 other Ret Pally besides me.
Sanctified Leggings drop. Before I roll, I get my whisper to the RL ready. I roll a 20, he rolls a 98.
I immediately whisper to the raid leader, "Dude, he did 2K DPS on that fight." (true).
After 20 seconds, RL responds, "Do you have damage meter?"
I respond in whisper with recount showing me in the top 5 and him at 2.7K DPS.
He drops the loot in my bag w/o saying anything. The Ret Pally drops group w/o saying anything.
No one notices.
Should I feel bad? Do you forgive me?
i cant believe you even posted this?
who cares mate its a game and your doing a pug
the only thing you should feel bad about is actually making this post

A roll is a roll and you lost.
You're just as important as he is, even if he only contributed 2k DPS. If you believe that you're more important, than either you should have left or you should have asked for him to be removed before he was saved. There is no reason to make a player exempt from raid loot just because their DPS wasn't up to par with someone else in the raid.
That's just greedy; it's a team game, not an individual one.
If your dps is lower than the tanks you don't deserve loot, you signed up as dps and you did not live up to that obligation
/end of discussion.
New sig! ^^
I think that you got those leggings fair and square. No need to worry about him, I doubt you will ever see him again anyway.

People like you really get me mad. So the guy did less dps but then surley he needs the legs just as much if not more.
Your a bad loser and to sum it up that makes you a loser. I would use much stronger language for a person like you. Seriously go play with some traffic because WOW would not miss a person like you!

I am talking to the OP not you. I found his actions pathetic.

I guess the moral of the story is to pull your own weight, or you might be a target for some unscrupulous actions in an online game.

Ok- I believe that when someone participates in a raid, and helps kill a boss, they deserve an equal chance at the loot, even if they were not the top performer. But lets define "participate".
If I am in VoA 10 and I am the only ranged who attacks the ice orbs, because the others don't feel like tab targeting or losing a spot on the meters, are they actually participating, or are they just there to get carried? If we're on marrowgar, and we have healers up on spikes forever because the dps doesn't feel like switching, are they participating or letting other people do the work for them? If i am in a raid with another hunter, and they set themselves to auto-shoot and pet attack and then have a conversation on the phone with their friend about what time they're going out that night, and the meters reflect this, how are they participating in any way?
If someone is undergeared, or newer at their class, and they are trying their best, then they should get the loot they roll on regardless. But a lot of times people equate showing up with participating, and that's not in fact the case. Most of the time, it can be hard to tell which is the issue, so I usually give players the benefit of the doubt. After 5 minutes of us yelling in vent and typing in raid chat for the shammy to pop hero, after 10 wipes on professor caused by the druid refusing to get out of the middle of the room and away from the green slime, or when someone in 5.5 gs does 890DPS single target, though, I would completely back a raid leader who refused to give someone loot. At that point, it's not fair to the players who are actually trying.
In the OP's case, I would have said that with 3.9k gs, 2k DPS is at least trying and he's earned his loot. Maybe his rotation isn't straightened out yet, maybe he thought melee should chase the orbs and lost DPS that way- who knows. So, in this case, I would say the RL was being unfair. However, there ARE cases where the only fair thing is to not award loot to people who refuse to listen, cooperate or try- they're just few and far between.

Not seeing a problem here.
Too bad that never worked the 9 times I lost Fury of the Five Flights (when it was relevant) to people doing sub-1000 DPS. *sigh*

if this guy is 80, then there's no excuse to pull 2k dps. 2k DPS enough for anything short of Sarth+Drake(s) when WotLK first came out.
