So I just dinged 40 today, and decided to dual-spec a DPS tree - Fury.
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Daggerspine&cn=Bashgor
This is my warr, specced/glyphed fury. What I TRIED to do was go out and kill mobs that are 2 lvls higher than me in STV, they royally stomped my ass, repeatedly. I would miss seemingly 90% of my bloodthirsts, and whirlwind, contrary to what I thought, is a very weak skill... AND on a (glyphed) 8 second cooldown!
So, does it get better from here, I mean - I can kill quick and all (when I actually hit), but I feel more like a firecracker on a short fuse than a low-down-time lvling autoattacking machine :(

I've been lvling with 1 handers since I started, it's definitely maxed if not 2-3 points off. I LOVE prot lvling, but the damage is really slow when you lvl in a party (outside of dungeons of course), so I wanted a good damage one - my wife is already arms so I thought I would switch it up with fury :\
Is the 3% hit that I'm missing in my spec really going to make it that much better to lvl with? If not, what else do I have wrong in the spec? Fury is the worst lvling spec? This is news to me xP! Maybe I'll just go arms instead <_<.

Heh, Arms it is! Maybe I'll try fury again at 60 when I get TG...
Thanks for the help!

The way specs handle while leveling is always drastically different than level cap. Lack of vital stats (hit, exp), gear that is all over the place and of wildly varying levels, and inability to gem gear to correct deficiencies.
Often it seems people are drawn to Titan's Grip and dual wield in general for the awesome factor, but the reality is the dual wield penalty is crippling for leveling due to lack of hit on leveling gear. Also on this point, Precision is definitely needed if you must go fury. Every miss means no damage, the enemy lives longer, you take more damage over time, and you don't generate rage from the hit. Because your crit rate and just overall damage output isn't stellar while you're leveling, rage will be in short supply. Not the mention that dual wielding necessitates having to get and keep 2 weapons upgraded instead of one, unless you're using heirlooms.
Prot is entirely viable to level now, and will get you into LFG groups quickly.
Oh, to answer your question : Fury will get feasible at 70+ when gear is more available.
