1. Unleash Elements ... can use.Nothing new causing a big stir then. UE does not have many tongues a-wagging, as it were. The main "big news" about Enh is the levelling. Which leads into the same area as:
2. What's the problem?We were told there would be lots of fun new talents. If you look at other classes, and especially Ele's big counterpart; the Moonkin, they have them. We don't. In the current build, there is no big exciting *new* talent in Ele.
Essentially, it has left me, and I imagine others, feeling very deflated about Shaman dps in Cataclysm.
My qq is that if you look at the original previews, all the things making you say "OMG EPIC" are things coming from the Resto tree.3. Resto goes oom ... CC for it.I was led to believe "ze mana control problem" would be affecting all healers. Does this mean we're going to have it harder than the other healers ?
No, but it means resto needs more tools as you can't mindlessly spam (lesser) healing wave or chain heal anymore.
And the Searing Totem talent is fine... what fire totem would you rather use on single target? Flametongue? It gets it stacks up in the same time it takes for your lava lash CD to end.
Really, just take a look at what 81-83 skills other classes get.. The grass is always greener on the other side. :-P

They should really switch Improved Shields for Ancestral Knowledge. Elemental would have more benefit from it, and Enhancement would have an easier time sub-speccing into Elemental.

The reason being that Elemental has no tree to sub-spec into at all, except for Elemental Weapons in the Enhancement tree. Then what? If you make Ancestral Knowledge and Improved Shields switch places, then you're giving both Enhancement and Elemental better sub-speccing choices.

Hmm, Ele's got a new talent that is a rehash of 2pT10. No other changes that I can see though,
I'm glad about this one though - it was one of those bonuses that made sense to have as a talent.
What I'm really hoping to see is a talent that makes clever use of Unleash Weapon - that would be awesome.

Agreed. Unleash weapon seems like a pretty "complete" skill though so not sure what you could talent about it other than maybe a higher % on the buffs or something passive like that.
Maybe enhancement could get one that makes it work with both weapons if you're using different enhancements... the buff, not the damage part.

As far as I know this is already true.
A dual-wielding Enhancement shaman will activate the effects of both of their weapon enchants.

Hmm... doesn't seem to work that way on beta at the moment. I'm only getting the buff from main hand.
Was wrong... :-p Guess that's been fixed in one of the builds.

So it seemed they changed our mastery to elemental damage after all. Great news, fellow enhancement shamans!

Hex now lasts 1 min. Up from 30 sec.
Searing Totem now prefer to target enemies that are afflicted by your Flame Shock or Stormstrike effects.
Reverberation is now a Tier 2 talent. Down from Tier 3.
Improved Fire Nova is now a Tier 3 talent. Up from Tier 2.
Elemental Warding now reduces magical damage instead of all damage.
Ancestral Knowledge is now named Acuity and Increases your critical strike chance with all spells and attacks by 1/2/3%.
Convection now Reduces the mana cost of your damaging offensive spells.
Enhancement
Heroism's "Exhausted" debuff now also affects Time Warp (Mage)
Static Shock now procs from Primal Strike, Stormstrike, or Lava Lash (Old - All melee attacks and abilities). Chance to proc increased from 2/4/6% to 15/30/45%.
Totemic Reach *New* - Increases the radius of your totems' effects by 15/30%.
Restoration
Totemic Focus is now a 2-Ranks talent, down from 3-Ranks. Now also increases the duration of your totems by 20/40%.
Cleansing Waters *New* - When your Cleanse Spirit successfully removes a harmful effect, you also heal the target for /.

The change to Searing Totem is nice - hope it sticks to the target, if Stormstrike/Flame Shock runs off though :)

The Static Shock change to Enhancement is a weird one. While they increased the proc chance to 45%, it doesn't affect white hits anymore, only the melee abilities. I don't have the beta so I can't test this.

My best guess is to make it more consistent and easier to figure out when it's going off.

I'm glad they seem to actually be changing up Ele's rotation. Before it looked like we would remain as a "Keep up FS. Work LvB and UE cd's. Otherwise LB spam" that's mostly the same as from Wrath. Though one open statement: Earth Shock now needs to be included in Elemental Reach or that talent is useless. There's no point giving us extra range on most spells if we still need to be in 25 yards for ES.
That's a nice observation. I'm sure that's going to be fixed though, as the change really looks great.
Oh, and I would hope that refreshing Lightning Shield doesn't reset the stack to 3, or else I'm personally screwed in carrying charges from one fight to the next. Having Water Shield has....thoroughly implanted in me "Doing nothing ? Press 1 FTW"
Hmm, yeah. It would be a bit awkward, but it's not that bad, I'd say. At least it's a small price to pay for the luxury of a new addition. Still, yeah. It would be a bit sad if it ran out at 7-8 charges :/
