Like somebody mentioned before. With the way the voting is, most people agree on one or two exceptional haikus and pile votes onto those. But if you want to make a difference for the mid to low range result people by giving them a vote, it will be much more significant than giving the #1 haiku that is ahead by about 150 votes yet another vote.
Now this could be bad if the person somehow dropped all the way from far ahead in 1st to 6th place or below, but I doubt that is even possible at this point. For example. The two people who are neck and neck competing for 5th place right now are:
Kill this, gather that / There has to be more to life / Oh look my queue popped! (tdraiju)
Do you want free gold? / Follow this link for info / Of course it's not fake! (RandomAct)
They're both at 109 votes. One of them will probably get 5th (and a beta key) while the other will get 6th and get nothing. I personally like tdraiju's haiku better so i gave my vote to him. Votes for them at this point are very vital and will determine their fate. Yet another vote for the #1 leader won't exactly do much. Just a FYI.

I like the sentiment. Though I may wind up stealing a vote from tdraiju... depending on whether my chess event one loses any more ground to the REM one. :/

I thought about doing that also but I am so close to 9th place and I feel greedy.

Stage 1 Disappointment: Aw man, mine didnt get picked.
Stage 2 Criticism : Oh wow! All these haikus are all flawed! Why would you pick them?
Stage 3 Bad sportsmanship: *Googles haikus* Hey, this haiku that is winning is based of an old joke but the haiku itself is original, why are you allowing this? Is it okay to plaguerize?
Stage 4: Complaining with unfounded bases: Wow these haikus are not even all that good and wow even though some are funny and some have a deep meaning/message i think im going to complain about the funny ones because those are the ones that are winning and wow i can't believe that people like comedy over complicated hidden messages wow this is such a popularity contest!
Like seriously memes? Even though by definition is a meme is popular i can't believe that the haikus that used memes are winning this doesnt even make sense what is this i dont even
You guys need to sit down, shut up, and grow up. You know damn well you wouldn't be saying CRAP if it was one of YOUR haikus that was up there and WINNING.
Can't believe you guys are still QQing about haikus that get picked. Get out of here with that, seriously. Maybe yours isn't as good as you think.
For the most part you
are correct, but some complaints
are pretty legit.
Breaking up seven-
teen syllable sentences
Should not qualify.
A song reference
can be cleaver but it should
follow haiku rules.
A good haiku should
tell a story despite the
limiting guidelines.
Haiku stories are
all about how my life got
flipped, turned upside down.
And I'd like
to take a minute
so just sit
right there I'll tell you
how I became the prince of
a town called Bel-air.

Oh and alot of these are based on jokes that have been told one to many times so ya...not funny anymore...I mean, the one on this thread referencing the Burning Crusade cinematic is far better than half of the current ones because it talks about something that hasn't been retold a mllion times how awesome or funny it was. Jokes are good ideas for Haikus, just make sure they aren't redundant (yay that's the word I was lookin fer). P.S. srry bout double posts
You are not prepared was not made into a meme? You haven't been around a while have you? Granted it was better then most of the ones here, it still has been retold a million times. There are even shirts referencing to the joke.
