Teldrassil is a giant tree stump. Get a torch, light it and throw it at it's foot. Fwoom. Victory.
Except it's Magical, and has been blessed by the Aspect of Life and the Aspect of Dreams.
And the fire wouldn't last anywhere near long enough. The place is huge. Even forest fires eventually just run out.
Oh, and the elfs won't just sit there while it burns. There are lakes and an entire ocean...
Why does this idea keep coming up?

Well, get multiple, magical torches. And if that doesn't work, send a Burning Legion general to give it a long big hug, that tends to work.
In all seriousness, I wouldn't count on the Deeprun Tram too much. You could amass a small army in the Burning Steppes, where there's little Alliance scouts. You could then fly in through the back of Stormwind, which is lightly guarded as far as I've seen, and take the Deeprun Tram by going through the Dwarven District, cutting Stormwind off from Ironforge. Then you could lay siege and starve the city.

For the first: As seen in Stormrage, the Tree itself will defend the island, and for striking from above, there are the hippogryphs and other creatures of the island protecting it from the sky.
To the second: There are only a few good roads into Elwynn forest, as the mountains of the Steppes are nearly unpassable. And again, large number of flying guards, as well as easily to position weapons along the walls of Stormwind; first war it took the death of Llane and betrayal from within to finally get the Orcs into the city; they held out against the Orc horde for 2 years before it finally ended.
The Tram is actually a very defensible location: Blow up the terminus in either city and the enemy is forced to go over land to reach the other. Or set up a large number of automated weapons in the tram itself and just mow down the Horde members as they attempt to use it to reach which ever city.

You know. The Horde capitals are so easy to invade according to this thread it's a wonder the Alliance hasn't roflstomped them already.
Undercity would need to be caved in to do an effective invasion. A human army was get lost in there after the apothecaries and such started attacking. And I can't even imagine trying to get to Sylvannas. She is sorrounded by guards and there is a massive hallway full of Elite deathguards between anyone and her...

I would say Lordaeron and Stormwind, but both of them were greatly weakened by the Burning Legion invasions.
Post-Cata I'd say for the Alliance, Ironforge, it's ontop of a mountain which greatly slows enemy movement, inside a mountain which disables enemy air attacks, and is easily defendable with the ability to bar off the only one entrance and the trams.
And for the Horde, probably Orgrimmar due to it's superior population and fortified buildings.

Also, any 'citizens' passing by in Orgrimmar would gladly take up arms against invaders, boosting their numbers.

There are also farms inside of Ironforge to grow supplies, in case the Horde ever comes knocking again.

how the heck do you make farms in a mountain?

Mushrooms, root vegetables, and a wide variety of other plants can be grown underground. And since Dun Morogh is virtually an arctic area anyways, where do you think the Dwarves grow their food?

Easiest way to invade Ironforge would be to send a couple of spies in to plague their food then, like evgeni said, cave them in with goblin explosives. They would all slowly die of disease.

Yea, but at the same time, perhaps gnomes could blast their way out?
