How important is it to modify your unit frame?

This is off-topic, but I like a good discussion about many things.
Rational people don't believe random things. There's no reason to believe in creationism, and it's entirely illogical to believe an arbitrary explanation as to how the world came to be. Knowing the origins of creationism, the origins of faith - as nothing more than a myth no different than many like it, that was passed down because it was useful and people
wanted
to believe it - it is the only logical conclusion to know it is not a valid explanation of how the world came to be.
The "seventh grade science teacher" thing is pure strawman. The science exists, the knowledge is out there. Saying that it can't be valid because some idiots happen to believe it doesn't invalidate the knowledge itself.
Scientific knowledge isn't arbitrary - to claim it is, is a fundamentally ignorant, since if you really wanted to understand and not just "take it on faith", or social bias, you could go read up and understand what I described for yourself. What gives scientific knowledge its validity and objective value is that it consists of observation and experience condensed into accessible, applicable, testable and internally consistent principles.
You misunderstood my point. Good, hard science that explains that the world is much older and gives very solid evidence for evolution is out there. Equivalent science for creationism is not. My only point was that there are quite a lot of people who know
nothing
about that science but still act like they're more informed than large sections of society. My second point is that these particular people are not going to convince me of anything, even if someone more knowledgeable than them could convince me of the same point that they're trying to make. They can't use knowledge they don't have, even if someone else does have it.

I respect both points of view as valid and a matter of preference.
As an add-on user (raider and leveler both), I think the thrust here is that add-ons >< skill. You will not be guaranteed to play better at all. In fact, you will suffer a degradation while you learn how to futz with your new functionality.
However, these are expediters, one and all. Whether it is moving frames closer to the action for enhanced mouse-click time, or setting up your decursing and healing. From making your HUD read out more timely and intelligently, moving battle notifications from the little social chat panel right out over the battle itself where you can't miss it. To making sound events to help you time when something will be happening.
Whatever your skill level, this will make you quicker, more reactive, more immediate. You will be doing what you do faster and lighter with less information-gathering effort.
For leveling, it is even easier to describe. It is a built-in smart map that overlays your game with every piece of useful data you could ask for, from positions of mailboxes to inn locations, to quest givers, to quest objective locations. Even possible loot drops per baddie and how the drops might compare to your current item set.
None of this makes you better, but all of it makes the game easier and more approachable.

The question was specifically about unit frame addons. Unless you're a healer they aren't really necessary, you don't need to be aware of your whole raids hp as a dps or tank really.
As a Pally tank I disagree on this. I
do
need to see the whole raids HP, so I know if someone needs Hand of Sacrifice/Protection or if I need to pop Divine Sacrifice to help the healers out (oh how I wish it was on a faster cooldown). And, of course, I need to see who has aggro so I know who needs Righteous Defense.

Aestu, I'm torn between irrationally calling you an !@#$%^& nerd keyboard knob wanker %^&* and saying good game, sir.
I hate losing.
How he responds to your bullet points will tell us if he's a devil's advocate or just stubborn.
I'm neither really. I have this weird thing where, even if someone in my eyes is wrong, I'll try not to say 'you're wrong'. It's rude, to me. I just typed a load of stuff about how I react to people who I would say were 'wrong' but I realised it was stupid and irrelevant.
I just hate how everything is 'this is right and this is wrong'. It's totally the case, unfortunately, and to that extent anything regarding opinions isn't important. (See this thread - either somehting works, or it doesn't right? But this only leads to people being rude to each other!) And I hate when people are rude to people they don't know. I would hope you all don't talk to people this way in real life, with the constant arguing etc.
And another thing, you might say 'show me where I've been rude', but read your posts from a distant point of view... there's consistently andundercurrent of just
sheer arrogance, it seems to me.
Not arrogance as such but.... I can imagine you people like Aestu saying the thing with a constant sneer on your face if you know what I mean? Like you're always talking to little kids or something, it's borderline infuriating, hence my desire to just say the opposite of what you say all the time :(
ARGH RAMBLING ON! I can't get my point across because I don't really understand why I feel the way I do about fact/opinion debates :/

It's not rude to disagree with someone. One of the things I hate about modern etiquette is that you're supposed to think that it is. I do talk this way to people in real life. If I think they're wrong, I think they're wrong, and I give reasons why. That isn't rude.
This post, as an example. I'm not going to look at it from a 'distant point of view' to see if it's rude, because I know it's not. I used polite language, abstained from ad hominem attacks, and calmly made my point. Just because it's contradictory to yours doesn't make it rude.

Maybe it's just being so wrong that I hate. Like then. It sucks. The big one.

Of course Grid doesn't show buffs, so another addon is needed for that (I use Dotimer)
Yes, Grid does show buffs
as long as you download 30 dependent but separate addons with the word 'grid' in the name
. Not sure if someone already mentioned this, but I thought I'd add it so no one got misinformation.
Fixed for even more accuracy. On a related note, this is why I switched to Vuhdo.

My favorite situation is when people who, for whatever reason, don't use addons at all attempt to use that as a reason why they are superior to other players who do. Absolute favorite.

I figured it wouldn't have grown that quickly in here. Plus most of the posts are from people that don't frequent this forum.

So they sent it here instead of locking it after 4 pages of people who don't know their ass from their elbow when it comes to UI customization?
Get off my lawn!
Get some torches and pitchforks...
We'll run this monster out of town.

They should have just locked it. Moving it here killed any discussions just as easily as a lock would have.
...who don't know their ass from their elbow when it comes to UI customization?
UI customization had nothing to do with the discussion.
Thanks for participating.
