I totally understand where you are coming from Hole the reason why I posted the test is because my computer is a bit wonky right now and I can not do it myself. I don't want to take

Even if we are talking movement BM is not that great either. Let me clarify that a bit, other than arcane spam, since we don't want to go into fox for these test, is something that all 3 specs can do. The only thing that make BM more attractive is that you pet now hits like a mac truck on steroids like its master. Excluding Kill Command BMs shots are all weaker than MMs and survivals shots. Which is why our pets hit harder ( I know that ) However I am asking to test it in terms of perfect condition stand still tank and spank no movement. ( I also know that this is not the norm in cata but hey that is why it is called theoretical/potential dps.)
That's the point though, Hunters are always going to have move. Look at every boss this expansion - there's a handful that are true "stand and do dps and collect purples", which means - that while knowing our theoretical dps is important - it doesn't reflect our real raiding scenario, which is what concerns Rilgon, myself and others. We're going to be moving, and if we can't do damage while moving, we're useless. We may as well not even be there in the first place.
Also, PvP. At least, that's another of my concerns. I know AotF is bugged as @#$% right now, but if they don't fix it to where it doesn't make you spin and run towards your target when you start casting, it won't be of much use.
If they make it like our current "jump-shot", where while kiting you jump in mid-air, do a 180, use an instant ability, spin back around and continue kiting, then I think PvP will be a bit better.
(Obviously while kiting you're casting, then you spin around right before it goes off, then spin back regarding Steady Shot)

How about this as soon as i re-download the ptr and beta (and regular wow since my computer reboot) I will do this test or this is why I said Rilgon do it since he doesnt have close to 40 gigs to download right now do the test but to appease you lets see if you like this one. 5 minute target dummy fights with at least 8 seconds of moving out of every minute to simulate movement on a boss. (Doing this to keep the numbers small). Also lets face it we do get to sit and dps for a bit before movement becomes an issue so it isnt like we need to move around for 10 seconds every 15 seconds or else that would kill most casters (except affliction locks). So just take my old post test and add these parameters and then see what you come up with. Again I don't want to see a focus is broke I want to see some numbers. This is the only way to settle this definitively. Again I am not here to say that it is perfect or flawed since currently it is incomplete and still being revised.
This is something really easy to test and then write to blizzard with some constructive criticism instead of a more typical whining tone known as QQ. I don't like that term but without some actual numbers it is really pointless to say yay or neigh on this issue, since there is nothing to quantify it, and by that I mean please tell us how much is it lagging behind is it like a 10% or is more like 3% to 5%. This way it will be easier to see how much more focus base generation or focus gain mechanic is really required.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding in this matter. I just want to be able to help find/solve the problem that focus has brought to us. Again just want this to be more helpful instead of XX spec is dead.
( Also this could be the "learning" curve that GC was talking about ) /shutter

However, I'm ecstatic that I now have the motivation, and the means, to finally become a pokemon master of azeroth.
this needs to be written down and remember somewhere. Possibly the best quote for a hunter ever

Yes, I do like the new changes. I leveled as BM and loved it during wrath, but was sad that the DPS was pitiful. With the buffs blizzard has given the spec, I can once again take the call of the beast. And kick ass too.

let me get this out first, I love playing my marksman hunter.I leveled with it, I bg with it and I raid with it. I love going into bgs and kicking ass, and going into raids and leaving people higher in gear than me in the dust.
my issue however... is the damn focus they are giving us... I loved the idea from the get-go, it seemed like fun.. untill i actually tested it out...
1. For pvp, i feel so constricted. focus regens at a PAINFULLY slow rate, I feel I'm running more than i'm shooting, and when I get to shoot its usually standing still spamming Steady shot trying to get focus back to shoot off another Chim-shot. And even WHEN i get a shot off it merely tickles my target and they beat me down... the time of my hunters dominance in pvp is dead.
2. The rotation for pve, just seems chaotic, but playable... just more of the same however..Steady spam ftl and shooting whenever I can get a chimshot off or a Ready,Set,Aim....Fire! proc'd Aimed Shot. or a Arcane shot while Chim-shot is on Cd.I feel i'm looking more at my bars than whats going on my screen.
Seems like hunters are going to take some "focus" to play now...
