The time when you thought someone was taking WoW way to serious

A couple years ago I was questing on a low lvl Alliance toon. I met up with another lowbie Alliance toon and we started questing together. (I only asked for help and he replied, I had never talked to him before)...When we were chatting while questing I casually mentioned that I also had a horde toon and the guy I was questing with went ballistic. He then took nearly the whole time finishing up our quests telling me that I "needed to be dedicated to the Alliance!" I though this guy was nuts so I put him on /ignore. Lo and behold, he got on an alt, whispered me, and then proceeded to tell me that I needed to delete my horde toon.
I would like to hear other peoples stories about how they met, saw, or experienced something where someone took WoW way to serious!
I love WoW and consider myself a dedicated player, but some people take it too far it seems! lol

When I kill someones alt a few times and they log off and make a level 1 character to talk to me calling me a no-life scrub that should kill myself etc.
Always gives me a good laugh, knowing that they're sat at their computer, red-faced and raging because of what I did.
Though I never gank someone for a long time, I get bored of that, I wouldn't go out of my way to harass someone.

feeling such an intense need to engage in self-deception, even when it gets nothing, from anyone
What about feeling such an intense need to investigate said person, even when it gets nothing from anyone?

I've got a "too seriously" story. This one time, I read a forum post about a guy who cyber-stalked some random from a PuG raid. This guy not only went through the other guy's entire WoW career picking holes, but it got even creepier when he started tracking the guy down to his RL job.
Eventually he wrote a great long post on Wowhead telling everyone how he had "pwned" this random guy by finding out so much information about him. That's what I thought to myself "Wow, this guy is taking WoW way too seriously!"

In this case, yes it is.
The only point of it is to say "You aren't who you claim to be".
Over a BT raid and post on the WoW forum.

Oh, the irony in the Aestu post... And that part about his
friend
running the raid was so good.

For the "RL job" part, all he did was ask him a few times. entire WoW careerWhoa, career?
He's
taking it too seriously?picking holesIt was
full
of them. great long post on Wowhead It's not even that long, it just appears that way because of the paragraphs and quote box.some random from a PuG raidWho claimed a whole lot of self-importance.
Need I say more?
Yes, that's sick. It's a game, get over yourself.

Way back (I think it was 1.8) when they made the initial changes to the Timbermaw rep and there were raids farming all the mobs they could get their hands on. I was trying to do some quests in Winterspring that involved the furbolgs that also gave the rep people wanted, but the vast majority of the raid was in Felwood so I wasn't really "in their way".
There was one dwarf shadow priest in Winterspring grinding away and he invited me to the raid. When I declined and explained my reason (I was trying to finish a quest quick and wouldn't get credit in a raid, once done I'd happily join and help farm). I got a huge tirade about how that was inappropriate and if I was going to be in the area I had to join the raid, otherwise I had to leave. Then he tried to get people from the raid to come to Winterspring (where it was just the two of us with plenty of mobs to go around) to farm what I needed so I would not be able to quest, and then of course put me on ignore.
Nevermind that telling someone how they must play and then preventing them from being able to quest is technically harassment, but really? You've got tons of other people camping every furbolg in Felwood and feeding you rep but I'm way out of line for just trying to quest? You can't give me five minutes to finish what I need because I'm RUINING YOUR REP FARMING? Seriously?
I normally don't hold grudges and get over stuff (hey, it's a game), but for whatever reason this bugs me to this day.

You're right. They don't explicitly state anything about it, but the mods do have precedent of removing anything that identifies a specific player or guild. I've even had a post of mine mod-edited to remove a guild name I created of the top of my head as an example of something.
A mod edited your post, saying why, and told you not to do it again. That should be enough.
"I know several forum posters who seem to take WoW too seriously" is an example of contributing without shaming because I could be talking about any number of posters on any number of forums. I don't really have any specific on-topic examples because I tend to forget them within a day or two.

<-- removed -->
Naming and shaming, no thanks. Do not do this again.
There was nothing where you typed "removed". The only thing you actually removed were links to screenshots - you didn't actually remove the part where I
named
the player.
I don't understanding how a thread about "people taking the game too seriously" can be without "shaming".
By "naming"...what do you mean? Do you believe actions shouldn't have consequences and individuals' reputations shouldn't be damaged by their misdeeds?
The
Wowhead forum rules
don't seem to say anything against "naming and shaming" (or anything remotely like it), or posting screenshots...are you trying to make a point...?
Actually umm..
any other activity that is against
Blizzard's Terms of Use or License Agreement
will be deleted immediately, and the poster will be banned.

I think that's about right.
(Yes usernames actually do count as "personal information" before you get smart-ass on it)
