While I've played both sides - since BC arrived I've only been in the BGs as alliance. I have never been a serious PvPer, but I do like the occasional BG. On my server, the alliance (even post patch 2.4.x) have won the majority of AVs I've been in. We lose (generally pretty badly) AB almost all the time. EotS and WSG can go either way. I mostly BG in AV because its a battle that my PVE gear and raid spec allow me to be effective. I'm a fire mage and generally pot shot the other side or defend from behind a skirmish line. Lack of resilience is not a huge problem if melee can't reach me and the healers are on the ball.
When I played horde we generally won about 50% of the WSGs and AB that we entered.
There is an effect that no one has mentioned. If you are with a winning team, and you all requeue at the same time, there is a very good chance that you'll end up with pretty much the same bunch as the one with whom you just won. Same is true if you just lost. So if you generally requeue as soon as the BG ends, you are likely to get more of the same. Winning begets winning, and the reverse.
When I am grinding for honor and I happen on a winning team, I'll requeue immediately in hopes of getting them again. If It a bunch of losers I kick back for a while before I requeue. Once Sunday on an honor weekend, I played AV back to back for about 5 hours and we never lost. I always saw pretty much the same group, and the same people were giving orders. We just kept winning. In essence our PUG became a pre-made.

Why would you think that the millions upon millions of people who play this game consistently sort themselves into "Alliance" or "Horde"? You know people can have multiple characters on either side, right? Your anecdotal evidence is next to worthless. If you are consistently losing it's probably your server or battlegroup - or, more likely, just bad luck.

From loosing systematically in every BG's I've been in, (except for the occasional BV win), I would suggest that out of fairness, Bliz need to create a special BG just for alliance; something akin to the special Olympics.

Alliance probably has more roleplayers in it. Roleplayers make good cannon fodder imo.

Although I play Alliance, I have a twink Horde, just to see how good that side really is. I play Bloodlust (US), and always lose on my Alliance main, especially now I only do AV (lvl 60). We chain lose battlegrounds, either because of not enough players, or no teamwork. Then, every 20th or so bg, we win one or two, then chain lose for another 18.
Then on my Horde character (49 Blood Elf Hunter), we chain win, over and over again. Its not because the Horde are better than ally PvP wise, its because they are better team players, and actually listen.
The Alliance have great SOLO players, which is annoying for me when I play my Alliance character. Then there are the Alliance noobs who enter at lower lvls, which scatters our twinks and good players.
Horde are not more SKILLED then us, they just have less lowbie noobs.
If you look at 19-39 Brackets, the Alliance are catching on, there are more twinks rising up slowly, and we win more, though we do still get lowbie noobs, our more geared and experience players balance it out. If only those twinks could level to 60 =(
