I guess you missed the whole obama health care thing, right? In which context? Considering the political conditions, especially in the senate, we got the best bill we could have.
BTW, quoting the MSM is tantamount to using Napkin math on EJ. he is orders of magnitude better than his predecessor.
And many more orders of magnitude worse than most others.
If you can't tell, I don't like Obama.
And many more orders of magnitude worse than most others. In which ways, exactly? Substantiate your claim, please. As I said above, using or referencing what pundits have said on the MSM is about as valid as napkin math....

His policies, and most of Congress's grated on me. As do quite a few of the Republican ones now. I just kinda don't like Congress right now, or the president.

I really hate it when people dodge questions. The only other thing you could have said besides 'his policies' is 'because he's black/the anti-Christ/a Muslim terrorist.' What don't you like about them, and why do you feel this way?

I like some of his ideas (such as the increase in minimum wage, equal pay), but I dislike forcing health care reform (something needs to be done, but I don't like the way he did it), and I dislike his intention to repeal the "don't ask don't tell".
I dislike his policies on gun control for the most part, although I support his views on childproofing guns and trying to stop the private sale of firearms at gun shows.
I dislike his support of legalizing marijuana.

He didn't do anything but sign the law Congress passed. Most liberals don't like the way "he did it" either (in that it does not do enough). But again, what
specifically
don't you like about it?
and I dislike his intention to repeal the "don't ask don't tell".
Again, Congress did this (just yesterday, /woot), he'll simply sign the bill. But aside from the specifics of how it's done, why do you
support
DADT? Last poll I saw had somewhere in the vicinity of 70-80% supporting the repeal, so on this topic, you're at odds with far more than just Mr. Obama.
I dislike his policies on gun control for the most part, although I support his views on childproofing guns and trying to stop the private sale of firearms at gun shows.
Can you name one of
"his policies"
on gun control that you're against? Most liberals think he's too soft on guns, so I'm curious what
specifically
you don't like here.
I dislike his support of legalizing marijuana.
Have a source where he says he supports that? I have a couple where he says he doesn't (though I suppose it could depend on what you mean by "legalize"). Again, this is something that some liberals have an issue with.
==
It's interesting that most of the things you say you have a problem with, most liberals would agree with you in a way. Also, in my opinion, you seem quite ignorant about these things in general -- but maybe I only think this because its easy to think that way about someone who has strong opinions but avoids discussion about their justifications.

My bad on that part. I misread an article. He just wants to stop federal intervention in states that have legalized marijuana.

Source
I don't like that he voted to ban handguns, for one thing. I fail to see how that helps, at all.
I'm a little less strong on assault weapons, but I still think that if he bans them (which I would be ok with), that it may lead to bans on all semiautomatic firearms. Which I would not be ok with.
Again, Congress did this (just yesterday, /woot), he'll simply sign the bill.
So what? He still agrees with it. Just because Congress passed it doesn't mean that he doesn't support it.
But aside from the specifics of how it's done, why do you support DADT?
Well, I'm against homosexuality as a whole (religious reasons obviously. Feel free to sneer).
He didn't do anything but sign the law Congress passed. Most liberals don't like the way "he did it" either (in that it does not do enough). But again, what specifically don't you like about it?
I don't like that he may force everyone to have health coverage. His reform looks like it will be a good plan, but the cost and the possibility of forcing everyone to buy health care puts me off a bit.
Also, in my opinion, you seem quite ignorant about these things in general
Tbh, I haven't been paying attention to politics lately, beyond general news coverage. It probably shows. It is also possible that I'm working with old data.
but maybe I only think this because its easy to think that way about someone who has strong opinions but avoids discussion about their justifications.
I don't like discussing my opinions, as most of them are moral or religious, which get sneered at and put down.

that couldn't be applied to 50 other things that are legal.
I argue against those as well.
If we as a nation elect people who choose to ban something then that's our choice.
This is slightly wrong. If I don't vote for someone who wants to ban guns, and that person wins, does that mean I just have to suck it and keep going?
You're going by the idea that America votes pretty much as a single body.
why would anyone dislike its legalization?
Moral purposes as well.

I've heard this from others as well, then I ask them this:
Would you be willing to pass a bill for a re-prohibition of alcohol for those same moral reasons? And how about the prohibition of tobacco?

I'll hope for a 'honest' politician.
Good luck with that.

Honest politicians exist (
Ron Paul
,
Bernie Sanders
,
Dennis Kucinich
to name a few), but they're not nearly as popular as the liars. Americans absolutely
love
being told exactly what they want to hear. That's what happens when the majority of your electorate is woefully uninformed and
proud
of their ignorance. Complex issues get boiled down to 4 word sound bites, and anyone with an opinion that won't fit into 4 words is immediately sidelined as a radical.
Excuses and complaints abound, but if you're not active and informed, you're just part of the problem.
