As was "The Incredible Hulk" to "Hulk" so too will this guide seek to right the wrongs of its predecessor. Sometimes the first attempt doesn't quite cut it.
Table of Contents
Spec
http://www.wowhead.com/talent#fcIfzsMdoGo0bZbhM:zVqdrbVmc
Yes nightstalker > imp ambush: with the advent of venomous wounds, mutilate rogues should never be using ambush, and since stealth is required when starting the fight, getting to the boss faster proves helpful.
The point in deadly brew is your optional assassination point- spend it in the area that benefits your raid the most
The missing point in the spec goes to either precision or opportunity depending on what your spreadsheet says (for most rogues however, maxed out opportunity will be better than maxed out precision)
Glyphs
Prime
Backstab: Our best glyph, even if it only affects the last 1/3 of the fight
Mutilate: More mutilates = more combo points = more damage
Rupture: Longer ruptures means more envenoms to squeeze in between them
Major
Fan of Knives: bigger range for fights where we need it as a cleave, or those big AoE pulls is always nice
Tricks of the Trade: Yes it is an overall raid DPS increase, take it
Sprint: Getting to the target faster for switching will prove useful on many fights
Feint: In some fights rogues can avoid having to run out of large boss AoEs, like other melee have too, by use of feint. Reducing its energy cost to 0 with this glyph will make it a large dps increase on these types of encounters as well as a useful survivability (something we will need to worry about in cata) tool on any encounter with AoE
Minor
there are no minor glyphs that effect your dps, pick the ones that are most appealing to you
Rotation
Start from stealth
- if possible garrote, if not mutilate
Start slice and dice up however you please
vendetta
rupture
Mutilate to 4+ points
cold blood + envenom
after that continue as follows, rupturing if its down (unless for some reason SnD is about to drop, in which case envenom is more important), envenoming otherwise (Remember: never mutilate at 4 combo points, the 4 point finisher will yield more damage than the wasted mutilate combo points). Use vendetta and
vanish
every cooldown, stacked with your on-demand trinkets. Use coldblood on the first 4/5 point envenom (only envenom) after every cooldown.
After reaching 35% your rotation changes to the following:
Backstab to 5 points
Rupture if it is down, otherwise envenom.
Dont forget your cooldowns
weapons
slow (1.8) MH
fast (1.4) OH
landslide on both weapons
stats
agi > yellow hit (yea I know) > spell hit > mastery > haste > expertise > crit > white hit
as always this is subject to change based on your gear- refer to a spreadsheet to determine exactly how good each stat is for you
poisons
Instant MH
deadly OH
Whats the best race?
Alliance: Worgen
Horde: Orc or Goblin

Update the leveling guide first, imo.

If you're referring to

Foolish Liquoid, he meant
this!
:)
Edit: As was "The Incredible Hulk" to "Hulk" so too will this guide seek to right the wrongs of its predecessor. Sometimes the first attempt doesn't quite cut it.
Guessing Liquoid meant that bit after re-reading.

Nice guide :)
Also, vendetta before rupture? Isn't the first tick after 3 seconds? If so it might be worth rupturing first.. though I don't know.
This is pure conjecture but would it even be worth waiting to vendetta until you have the 4+ cp from mutilate ready to envenom then vendetta, cb and envenom? That way you start the vendetta buff with 4-5 seconds of the envenom buff so at the tail end you might be getting a few more seconds of vendetta buffed envenom buff (so you'd have a higher envenom buff uptime during the vendetta buff). Also, during the first vendetta i'd recommend as soon as garotte wears off, vanish+garotte.

Nice post, Goshad. And hi, rogue forum. Just got back on my rogue for Cata and it's nice to see that Mut gets all the fun toys even in a raid spec. I always loved the speed increasing talents but they never used to fit into a decent dps spec.
