I don't know how many more times I can say "when Umbriss casts Gale of Shadows, stand in the eye of the storm or you'll die" before DPSers will finally clue in. I watched an enhancement shaman and a ret paladin completely ignore the Gale of Shadows mechanic, thinking that I would heal them through it and they could flex their skill meters after the fight.
The first Gale I placed Barrier on top of their stupid asses, and the 2nd one I used Leap of Faith. I really should've let them die to teach them a lesson, but when I can PULL them to the spot they're supposed to be standing, maybe that helps them learn faster? I could only pull one of them though so the other had to die.
It will take a bit of time before these tunnel-visioned idiots realize that it's their own responsibility to pay attention to their threat and to move out of bad stuff. Frankly, I'm going to have to just shrug off the abuse that these idiots deal to me when it's their own damn faults that they died.
There are still stupid tanks who pull when I'm nowhere nearby or OOM and then wonder why they died, or who rush into trash packs and get insta-gibbed and wonder why it happened... then I have to explain once again that it's not Wrath anymore and they have to get used to marking targets and using CC. And DPSers need to learn to /assist the tank and not choose their own mob to tank.

I had quit wow some months ago, but this 'difficulty raise' seems quite intriguing.

No healers left, the only thing that's hard with heroics is keeping your temper with idiot DPS.
Do feel really sorry for those that have to PUG all the time though.

I've shelved my 85 Priest. Been healing since Beta when 1st Generation Dwarf Mages were the 'in' thing. I know how to heal. I know all about 'don't spam heal'.
The issue isn't Spam Healing like you just opened the box, or just bought your first Priest off Ebay. It's the amount needed per heal, and regen.
I'm carting around 110k Health, with a mana pool of 70-75k on a given run. Using 'light' heals, I'm down to 1/4 mana on a given fight. I'm oom normally, using 'smart heals'.
It's not a L2Heelz issue. Feel free to think so because you're the pro-healer from Ensidia. Enjoy yourself. There are issues with Priest Mana Usage, and it's not user error.

The fact that
some
people are doing it right implies that it is
possible
.It might be harder or easier, but if some can do it, it's not an inherent class fault.

Druids were also in Vanilla, and some could do it. Does that mean that no work was needed?

As somebody who had thought (Discipline) Priests to be doomed, I have to say I am quite happy with the way everything turned out. Healing heroics in a group that does not consist of random LFD tards is easier than WotLK daily random healing while at the same time being much less boring.
Let the quitters quit; our guild has the healers it needs.

The point is that it's not because class X is impossible. Being too hard =/= being impossible, you're mixing the terms. If the skill required in playing a priest is too high, I'm not saying there isn't an issue to be corrected. Just not because of what you claim.
Meaning, either get better now and live with it, reroll/quit if you can't, or get groups that carry you as much as possible. QQing with no basis but your own experiences is a double edged sword.
And watch your tone, just pointing that out. No one here is being rough on you, you shouldn't either.

Watch my tone? Are one of the elderly? I had no tone.
Besides I've already take up getting my other 80's to 85. I couldn't care less what happens to Priests and how they need some work.
You don't think so? Well yay for you. Go grab a chocolate milk and feel good about yourself. *shrugs*

Then you don't know how to heal, because you can spam heal. that aside...
It is now a 5 man effort to do heroics. I took my mage to 85 before my priest and can tell you that i always make sure my Ice Barrier is up and im sheeping casters, even if the tank doesn't say so. I'm also always DPSing anything with an AOE to make sure im the one interrupting it. The group don't know im doing that, but looking at the healers mana at the end of the pull and seeing it at 70% rather than 35% is all i need.
If your going OOM it may be because your just not thinking about the encounters. CC is actually needed with most packs now. Failing that, your using the wrong spells. failing that, your attitude towards it is !@#$ and you need to man the @#$% up.

I see Yesterdayshero is spouting his nonsense in this post as well. For the record, I am levelling other healing classes as well, and guess what? Priests aren't the only ones who have to conserve their mana and be reliant on the intelligence of the group.
Oh, and if Priests really are in a bad shape, I would rather we stay this way than become easy. For me easy=boring. I play for the challenge.

Dunno, haven't got my Priest up there yet. Otherwise I would have stated that I was doing fine.
However you essentially claimed Disc Priests to be broke; There are issues with Priest Mana Usage, and it's not user error.
I'm oom normally, using 'smart heals'.
It's not a L2Heelz issue.
hint - if even one person is doing fine, then it is a' L2 Healz' issue.

What are you trying to heal with what gear? Who?
I play a holy priest, and I can tell you: the times of healing with just FH, CoH and Renew are gone. You have 15 spells in your toolbox, you are going to use 15 spells. I never used Binding Heal, but I am now. Heal is your friend. Chakra+Heal is your biggest love.
I made a deliberate decision to not enter the heroic instances too soon. Yeah. I had the ilvl, but I just knew that it would be slaughter if I would attempt it. So I muddled a bit longer around in normals and took the time to learn how to heal.
I have entered the heroics now by healing guildgroups. But I'm not healing pugs yet. Once my gear has gone up a bit, I'll try that.
Healers got the biggest change. Blizzard seems to have designed it so that the healers are the ones carrying the change from the gogogo mentality and the desire to play with your guild instead of just walking in a random without asking if anybody else wants to do anything. Is that fair? Perhaps not, but it is what it is.
This is NOT WotLK anymore. We can all agree on that. But I still see people thinking that they should be able to fully heal heroics on nada gear and get away with it. Stop thinking that way. Accept limitations, accept that that DPS died because you couldn't keep up with the damage. Accept that you might want to go back to that normal to switch out that green to a blue to get better regen. Enchant your gear, buy a better gem, don't think that: meh, I replace this anyway, I'm not going to spend 100g on that. Use an old SP flask, I'm sure you have it lying around and otherwise they are being sold cheap. Use the food you cooked to level cooking in the heroic.
In the end it's about making *your* life easy. If you LIKE to heal (as I do) you'll figure your way around it.
