Hi all. I'm Longrodsbc ( 85 Arcane Mage ) on Argent Dawn. I'm a 525 Archaelogist. I got my recipe out of the first canopic jar I opened. I am currently working on my second canopic jar but since the recipe is bop I don't really care now. I already have my Sandstone Drake. Good Luck all. It's really a grind.

7 opens, no recipe yet. Took a very long break from this grind after 6 jars, just now starting back up with it again today (10/17/11).
9 opens, no recipe as of 10/23.
Took another break from farming this as I grew frustrated with the limited number of jar completions vs. the other "common" Tol'vir solves.
UPDATE: And on the 12th jar, he rested. It finally dropped.
As my alchemist is not my main, I leveled his archaeology skill specifically for this recipe only, so I leveled archaeology in Kalimdor exclusively (with one small jaunt up to Northrend to get a second ilevel 225 BoA axe for my shaman alt). Staying in Kalimdor meant there was a better chance of me burning through the other dig site flavors found there which would increase the chance of getting a Tol'Vir site. I ended up completing Night Elf archaeology fully, which helped with the rest of the farm by lowering the likelihood of getting NE digs -- which everyone knows you otherwise get about 7 out of 10 times in Kalimdor.
Final Score:
Dwarf solves: 11 (1 rare)
Draenei: 0
Fossil: 141 solves (4 rares)
Night Elf: 248 solves (7 rares)
Nerubian: 2 solves (0 rares)
Orc: 0
Tol'vir: 157 solves (4 rares )
Troll: 50 (2 rares)
Vrykul: 4 solves (1 rare)
TOTAL solves: 613
One last stat for you guys. Of the 157 Tol'vir solves I completed the breakdown looks like this:

My char has 525 Alchemy. As soon as I hit 450 archaeology I went to Kalimdor: first Tol'Vir artifact was a Canopic jar and it contained the recipe. Never touched archaeology again on that character and she still has 475 skill.
It was a good day.

Vial of the Sands recipe dropped for me from my second Canopic Jar. Alchemy and Archaeology are both at 525. I dug through 27 Tol'vir sites before the second jar dropped. Mats on my server are around 35,000g, but I had collected mats several months ago in anticipation. Mount is awesome sauce!

Since the beginnig I had both Archaeology and Alchemy on 525(540 Alch 'couse I'm a Goblin)

I have confined all my archaeology to Kalimdor to increase the number of Tol'vir sites opened.
So far, a total of 462 archaeology solves, of which 110 have been Tol'vir artifacts. Of those, I have solved 16 canopic jars - still no recipe. And yes, the toon is a 525 alchemist.

Took me 4 canopic jars before I got it.
I currently have 26 tol'vir solves, but I got it a little bit ago, so it was less total artifacts
