Got my first Canopic jar and was surprised to see the recipe for vial of the sands. I know that there is only a 3 percent drop rate. I count myself very luck to get it.

First canopic jar, got the recipe. BTW, got the jar from the Tol'vir artifact pieces retrieved from turning in Pandaria and Mogu artifacts. Never dug in Uldum.

I received my recipe on my 4th jar., 24th tol'vir solve) I also used crate exchanges with Brann Bronzebeard in Pandaria to get fragments.
On a side note , I have completed over 150 tol'vir solves( pre-MoP) on my other hunter. When I turned in crates in the Vale my next solve to pop up was the claw pet. As my RNG luck is bad , i am wondering if the pandaland turn ins have ahigher chance of a rare solve. As i cannot see me having such good luck on two seperate toons...lol Now that I have the recipe, i will test this to see if iget the tol'vir mount. Will update...

Well, after searching around for a while, I found this site, and thought that I wanted to throw in my 2 cents:
Number of opened Canopic Jars to get Recipe: Vial of the Sands: 4!
I was so thrilled when I opened it and it was there. I went through a total of 27 Tol'vir artifacts and 2 rares to get here.
I betted with a friend of mine whether I'd get Scepter of Azj'Aqir or this baby 1st, and I won with this.

My count is 139 total Tol'vir archaeology solves, with 18 of the canopic jars before I got the recipe.

I found this topic ever since I started this grind in early Cataclysm and kept it bookmarked, hoping for the day I could finally make a contribution to this topic. However, I underestimated the grind, badly, after getting Insane in the Membrane (back when Shendralar was included, I may add). I gave up after getting about three or four Canopic Jars. Let me tell you, going from "kill a preposterous but static amount of mobs" to "RNG coated in RNG dipped in RNG" is a game changer. In my opinion, this grind was much less enjoyable than Insane in the Membrane was.

Recently I finally decided to give it a shot again (this time without looking at the demoralizing "I got mine on the Xth jar, where X is half or lower than your total number of jars!" comments) and I've finally got the recipy myself. Here's the final score:

32x Cat Statue with Emerald Eyes
