13 jars and no recipe yet, too far in to give up but I am begging RNGesus for mercy this is a brutal grind.
edit: 17 jars now, still no recipe, resorting to ridiculous rituals like hexing frog's before opening a jar, then having the urge to lay my toon face down in the water with each mummified organ I loot.
edit 2: got it on my 18th jar, got 3 rares including the battle tank mount and 2 BOA's, probably took 20-30 hours total farming mantid digs, that's enough archaeology for me for a while..

I'm that unlucky alchemist, I am 12-13 recipes short of FULL AVAILABLE COMPLETION OF ALCHEMY FOR ALL TIME.
45 jars opened
no recipe.
I have 600 alchemy
I have 600 arch.
I have over 9000 anger.
But the good news is I already have my sandstone drake!

Levelled Archaeology in 3 days. Once I got through some sites to unlock Archaeology I went to do some Uldum...
1st Canopic Jar = win.

It was so long ago, but I got the recipe within the first 2 or 3 jars I opened (never made or opened any after I got the pattern)

Don't get your hopes up people. I literally went form level 80 to 90 (you remember how long it took to get from 80 to 85, and it took almost as long to get from 85 to 90)only doing archaeology, (I already had 550 in alchemy) I have kept track and have found and opened 122 jars and not one of them contained the vial of sands recipe. I have opened dozens of tickets and I have talked on the phone to dozens of GM's and they all assure me that the recipe is still in game but I strongly have my doubts, just do as I did, find someone in game that has it and friend them and get them to make it (much less of a headache believe me)

For Myself, 4 Jar , 0 recipe will keep everyone posted also quick way to get them is by having flying in draenor and doing the Archaeology there makes it so much easier

Used the mantid farming technique. Found it on my fourth jar. After collecting 120 tol'vir crates over the course of three days grinding from 8-11 pm. Got 5 jars from this, and didn't even care that the fifth existed.
Yelled about it in stormshield, and only got a "#$%^&*bag" in return lol.
Now maybe I can get some sleep at night.

Random Number Generator. Just a gaming term for "random chance something drops" - the game rolls the virtual dice and you lose. If the % chance the canopic jar drops is 0.1% and the % chance that it has the vial of the sands is 0.0001% then RNGesus does not smile on you my son.
