I just don't agree with this post full stop.
Blizz did a great job in making most content available to the casual in the previous xpacs. No different now. The only difference is that they are harder; they aren't more time consuming really. Sure it might take an extra 5 goes to down a boss, but really, what's an extra hour here and there? If you can't afford that then you won't have been doing it in the past and as such there is no real loss here.
Now, it feels like I have to spend hours and hours just to get to the point where I can get in a group to be told how much "I suck".Eh, when was this any different? You could always just not suck, that usually warrants at least not being told that you suck.
Wait, what? You are tired of new, refreshing ways to play? Yes nerfs can be irritating but usually it's called for and there's a solution to it. Faceroll isn't an option any more (Frost mages, quiet >.>).
"Quit whining" , "Gear your toon" "Join a bigger Guild"Why can't you do this as a casual?
they never seem to make small incremental changes to fix problems, balance classes etc. Errrr yes they do. Please go back and re-read almost every Blizzard patch ever and you will find such small changes.

When will people stop using Casual as an excuse for being bad?
P.S.
Been playing since vanilla
I don't expect you to understand, but Blizz did a great job in making most content available to the casual in the previous xpacs.
Tell me, new QQ'er, how long did it take you to get to Black Temple?
Or Sunwell?
Or Naxx 40?
Or Hyjal?
Yeah. You mean
previous expansion
. I.e. A certain Wrath of the Lich King, where everyone and their dog could enter the Lich King's domain.

I think for a casual player the game is about the same as it's always been. It also depends on your definition of casual. Some people are casual players yet they are in all the end game content.
I'm more casual in the sense of I level lots of toons to the level cap and then slowly gear them up. I'm usually at the end game raiding once people have been through it a few months.
I really like Wrath but I think I was more into the game when it came out. Cataclysm was a let down for me. I just don't like the zones or the dungeons. After getting 3 toons to 85, I'm kinda bored of it.
My subscription runs out soon so I'll probably just take a long break.

That's because you suck.
No one zones in and says "hello all. Based on my extensive experience with your performance and character tuning, I have come to the strong conclusion that you aren't a good player." They only say that after you fail to move out of the fire four times in a row.
Casual =/= bad. Stop giving casuals a bad name.

I don't think casuals are considering quitting anytime soon. Heck, most people seems to be enjoying the game tremensely.
The only people I see wanting to quit the game came in with Wrath when Blizzard was handing epic's out like candy. Granted it was the end of the xpac but still, that's a bad habit to get your players into because now we have people who need to be trained out of that mindset, which I'm all for since I'm used to Cata now having played during Vanilla and TBC when Heroics were hard as hell and fun as all get out.
So yeah, only people I see quitting are those who can't face-roll 6k dps, get full purples and /flex.
Completely wrong. I agree with the original poster 100%. Been playing since Vanilla myself and Cata is a serious setback to what made the game fun. I could care less about epics but I'd like to be able to get some gear once in awhile. My first regular dungeon in 2 weeks and a ret pally doing 2K DPS overall won a major upgrade for my warlock. And I was top DPS at 8000dps overall. And....it took over an hour to complete for a whopping 70 Justice Points. Blue upgrades on the AH going for 15K. Epics for 20-50K... yeah..hours and hours of dailies or grinding (days more really).
Fun? More like a grindfest thats getting older and older as we speak.

No.
Doing 70 content at 70 is like doing 85 content at 85.
Doing 70 content at 85 is old content.
p.s. People like playing this game i different ways, there are no set rules.
