Dear Tanks, You Suck.

This was my experience just less than an hour ago.
- I queue for a random heroic as a healer. It's Blackrock Caverns, no biggie... easy and fun.
- Our first tank sees that it's BRC and promptly leaves the group.
- Our second tank sticks around to kill Rom'ogg. The shield doesn't drop. He promptly leaves the group.
- Our third tank sees that we're in progress and promptly leaves the group.
- Our fourth tank is barely at a 329 gear level in a lot of greens. We wipe soon after he joins because he grabs two groups of trash. He promptly leaves the group.
- Our fifth tank does his best impersonation of our third tank. He promptly leaves the group.
- I promptly leave the group out of frustration.

Oh, I do 98% of the time. I was just wanting some rep and was on late at night. No guildies around. ;)

I play at tanking, healing, and dps.
From what I can tell, about 30% of tanks, healers and dps suck.
About 50% of tanks, healers, and dps are okay, you don't really notice them, or remember them after the run.
The other 20% of tanks, healers, and dps are awesome and you want to run chain heroics with them.
The real problem is that we tend to remember the 30% of players that suck, for a myriad of reasons, far longer than we remember the other 70% of players that are okay or awesome.

There has to be another problem... whenever i'm dps, the runs suck. Either the tank or healer is horrible and bad. If I'm either the tank or healer, it's suddenly far easier and the run is a smooth as ever.

With that kind of thinking, it's probably because you KNOW that you are a good healer or a tank, you know the boss tactics when tanking and you're always on the ball with healing. While you can't rely on those other bad tanks and healers because they are more lazy than you. IMO a tank and healer is what holds up a group, the dps to a lesser degree.

been there before. i empathize with you. gotta love the ones that cant wait for CC either then blame heals for the wipe. alot of them are still in the LK frame of mind. chain pull to the boss then burn them all down. only they realize a tad too late thats not possible atm.

It's not just tanks. I tanked a Heroic BRC run yesterday with one guildie who was hoping for the DPS wrists from Steelbender. A few wipes on Corla because people weren't moving out of the beams in time (it was the healer's fault, and he admitted he screwed up so no biggie there - I don't mind wiping as long as people learn from the mistake). Had two people who didn't speak English at all so it was very hard to communicate; luckily the Mage understood "sheep moon" and "kite adds". I myself messed up the first time on Steelbender (I had done it on normal a long time ago but not on Heroic) because I was following some advice I read on Tankspot I believe that said wait until his debuff has only a few seconds left before you kite him back through the middle, and we ended up getting the adds. Second time I just did it more frequently until he was almost dead and then let the adds show up when we were going to kill him before they caused issues.
You get bad people all the time. Now personally I hate that people are so rude as to simply drop because they didn't get the item they wanted (it's not like you can just queue up and try it again, so why not at least get more JPs?) but sadly that's the risk you take using the LFG tool.

Ever thought to wonder why they leave as soon as they zone in? Probably because some DPS have decided to suck, which gave them a bad experience. It's a vicious cycle.
Yeah, with the buff and good gear the instances are easily chain-pull-able now.

In some cases, you can chain pull just like you do in WotLK. If your tank and healer know how to use cooldowns properly (which means not waiting for emergencies) then the run goes rather smoothly and you can blow right through them without CCing and without stopping to drink.
I know I don't CC.
Also, I thought this thread was going to be about Ozruk, since that fight has proven that 95% of the tanks in this game don't know how to move for three seconds at a time.
Every time I do that fight I have this image in my head of every tank in Org trying to fly from the bank to the AH, stopping all of the sudden, and yelling to themselves OH GOD I FORGOT HOW TO MOVE AGAI- oh no wait that's right the up arrow key.

To be fair, even when you start running the minute you get the DBM Shatter warning, I've still not managed to get far enough away (although I don't die from it). Maybe it's lag, I don't know, but I start moving through him the minute I get "SHATTER - RUN AWAY" pop on my screen and I get to maybe inside the outer edge before it goes off. My heroic spec isn't using Pursuit of Justice for the increased speed, but since that's a special talent it shouldn't be a factor at all in the fight as not everybody can do it.

- I promptly leave the group out of frustration.
Hope you can see what I did there.

Posts like this make me second guess getting into raids and dungeons as a tank. I am sure of one thing though, I need to make sure I read up more on tanking, and do what I can to be sure I have the proper gear for that very purpose. If and when I do jump into dungeon with a group, I will do the best I can, and stay to fight the good fight.

I complain when my plumber does a %^&* job. That doesn't mean I have to start plumbing to defend my complaining. Every person has a contribution to make, and if one person isn't pulling their weight in that regard, that's their fault.
