What about the Nuclear reactor?
The tsunami with eventually die down
The earthquake is probably already stopped, with just some lesser tremors to go
But that piece will never recover from this, and they don't have the capabilities to stop it spreading right now
If they don't stop that soon, a lot of land will become unstable and dangerous due to Radiation Sickness

All reactors in the affected region went into automatic shutdown. However, one reactor's cooling system shut down as well due to emergency generators not activating. People around the all affected reactors have been evacuated as a matter of course. Most experts believe that the likelihood of containment being lost is extremely remote, but they are monitoring the reactor which lost it's cooling system. They've designed their reactors with earthquakes in mind, they're pretty robust for a nuclear reactor.

From what I understand, the US Air Force flew in additional coolant and equipment to try and get emergency cooling back online at the one plant still considered "in danger". They reported that they were going to be venting some steam from the plant into the atmosphere in order to reduce pressure and heat, but that according to their readings, the steam should only be hot in a temperature sense, not in a radioactive sense.

Its devastating.
And I really hope that none of the nuclear plants melt down. They say one has building pressure and they think no coolant is going into it... I hope they fix it, or we are looking at radiation and lots of more devastation.

Saw this on tv last night and said to myself... Just spent the last 6 months living through earthquakes, do I really want to watch more on tv? The answer was, and remains, no. So sick of it all.

Natural disasters do get a rather sickening amount of coverage these days. Not trying to detract from the horror of what's happened though. Is there a donation appeal going yet? It's rare that I offer charity outside my own country, but I
like
Japan.

I hate to concur with something like this, but it is true.
Of course, there has been a lot of natural disasters lately...

Probably because they're out-of-the-blue events that kill people.
AKA a media wet dream.

Didn't the mayan's or something predict that 2012 was going to be the end of the world?
Post by

No. The Mayans wrote "long range" calendars or something. The current one expires in 2012. Which means the next one starts in 2012.
Which I'm fairly sure is actually all based off of constellations and the equinox, which you'd understand if you've ever watched Zeitgeist. For the last 2000 or so years, Pisces has been in the equinox, but sometime very soon, that will be changing so that Aquarius is in the equinox.
