@ Skreeran: Can you explain precisely how your sister is enjoying Christian radio (i.e. Christian tendancies) but happily indulging in your parents' Zionist rants? They seem completely contradictory to me.
Zionism isn't just for Jews, it's commonly associated with the Political Right, which also happens to be associated with Christianity.
Indeed, Falwell for example is a Zionist Christian.
Ok, so just to be clear, so that we're on the same page...
What do you guys define as Zionism?

What do you guys define as Zionism?A sort of manifest destiny for Jews in Palestine. The belief that Israel belongs to the Jews and always will. The belief that all Jews are destined to return to the Promised Land one day. And so on.

It's more then this. For example, a lot of Jews and non-Jews are Zionists, meaning that Jews deserve their own homeland (not necessarily Israel), in that they believe Jew's can never properly assimilate and it would help eliminate pogroms, holocausts, and inquisitions and so on.

Talking about holocausts and inquisitions. Who killed more people in general: the Catholic Church or the Nazis? I was digging around, you know? So, this is what I found:
Voltaire's list of deaths by the Catholic Church
:
1) 200 deaths by the struggles for the "papal throne" between the priests Novaciano, Cornelio, Cipriano and Novat at the year 251.
2) 200 deaths because of vengeance between christians at the year 315 (Constantine times).
3) 400 deaths by the Schism of the Donatists in Africa.
4) 300.000 deaths by civil wars in the Roman Empire for 400 years caused by the term "consubstantial".
5) 60.000 deaths by the Byzantine Iconoclasm.
6) 120.000 deaths by the crusade against the Manichaeism at the years 845 by the empress Teodola.
7) 20.000 deaths caused by seditions between priests who aimed for the episcopal chairs.
8) 1.200.000 deaths by the Crusades.
9) 100.000 deaths by the crusade that devastated the coasts of the baltic sea.
10) 100.000 deaths by the crusade against the french Languedoc.
11) 50.000 deaths by the crusade against the "emperors" devised by Gregorio VII.
12) 50.000 deaths by the Western Schism, XIV century.
13) 150.000 deaths by the wars against Juan Huss and Jeronimo de Praga to end the Western Schism.
14) 18.000 deaths by the Massacre of Mérindol.
15) 300.000 deaths by the Inquisition in Europe.
16) 12.000.000 deaths by the Conquest, Inquisition and domination in America for 3 centuries.
17) 300.000 deaths by the evangelization from Japan because of the jesuit public relationships.
TOTAL NUMBER OF DEATHS BY THE CATHOLIC CHURCH:
14,768,800 deaths (not a secure number).
TOTAL NUMBER OF DEATHS BY THE NAZISM:
11.000.000 (around that number).
All this was information I got from out there and had to translate it. I'm not sure about the numbers or anything, just sharing what I found.

Voltaire was also incredibly biased; he absolutely hated the Catholic Church. He was a philosopher and writer but not a professional historian >.^

Tartonga; that happened over a large period of time, whereas the Nazis killed that many over 6-7 years (?).
I believe that eventually, religon will be gone, and all that will be left are Athiests.
Since we are young, we are "programmed" unconsciously by our parents, the teachers (and in that way, even the goverment) and they tell us that there are only certain ways to happiness, mostly controlled by them. The truth is there are no ways;
we are in the middle of a desert and we have to explore every way until we find happiness for ourselves.
But here is where religion appears, it manipulates us with our happiness.
Although I agree with the bolded part completely, its called socialization, and happens all the time, and never stops, with more than just those sources.

Actually, you can. :P
1. That they are tediologies, have notions of a higher purpose.
2. That they seek to explain everything.
Not all religion seeks to explain everything. Nor do they necessarily provide for moral codes / higher purposes.
Ah, that was bad phrasing on my part. Religions seek to explain the nature of our existance. For example, the idea of "How did we get here?" "A deity put us here."

Tartonga, the Catholic Church thing happened over what, several hundred years?
The Nazi deaths happened over WWII. That's a
really
short amount of time.

I'd rather not discuss the ill-effects of religion as a whole here. There are other threads for that. If possible, I'd like to keep it down to discussing the cult of conservativism. (Yes, there's a cult of liberalism too, but I don't have to live with it on a daily basis).

Honestly, you have two choices -
a) You continue to live with them until you can move out and you completely avoid all discussion of politics, religion, etc... with your family. It's not terribly difficult to let ignorant people to continue to be ignorant.
b) You go ahead and move out and cut ties.
It sucks to hear, but I know I wouldn't want to be subjected to that. My parents are pretty devout Christians, but they're not insane about it and even they irk me with the Jesus-talk every now and then. At least you have the Internet and friends to provide for entertainment / possibly intelligent conversation.

Yeah. I know my options, it's simply that they frustrate me to no end.

Understandably. Like I said, I can't even imagine having to put up with it.
Whenever I'm feeling a bit masochistic, I just browse the WoW or Rift official forums; plenty of idiots there.

Mom is actually giving a lecture on the nature of salvation and why it's better to be Messianic Jewish than anything else right now. I'm just keeping my music turned up nice and high and ignoring it.
You know what pisses me off? I have to get up early and go to school and work hard for school credit. I'm having to cram Geometry so I can finish on time.
My siblings sleep in and then listen to church sermons to get credit.

You should wake them up with a bucket of ice cold water at like, half four in the morning. I'm sure that would improve your situation.

Especially if I make it as a doctor.

Do you think your family would support you through a medicine degree?
Unless you mean your army medical role thingymajig, which is more likely.

There's no way they could afford to put me through medical school. I'm hoping to use Army money/experience to work toward getting into it.

I'm not only talking financially (emotionally etc. as well), and can't you get a grant from the government, or a student loan or something from a bank?
