I don't even have to read all 5 pages to know that everyone has repeated the same thing 10 times over here.
Anyhow, my 2 cents: I loot all, because I have use for money.
I also keep all the fun stuff and a gearset for the offspec in bags along with all my profession stuff that I have gathered since last bank visit (keeping all profession materials that you do not use in your bags is, basically, very, very stupid.)
If someone does not loot for skinners because...
...they don't have space: there is an option to not auto-loot, just one click and the skinner can have the extra money they don't want along with his skins.
...they don't think they deserve the skin from a mob that you earned the loot from: they obviously have no idea how skinning works (or just are being annoying.) No other profession
has
to kill to gather materials. It's the same as if a skinner said he has the right for half of the deposits in the dungeon and the miner is not allowed to gather them, even though the skinner gets no benefit from them at all.
...they are the tank and have to keep pulling: if the healer is looting and they do this, they probably wont live long. Then they usually blame the healer for their own stupidity. Even if the healer is with you not all dps might be, if any. So they may not actually be saving much time.
...they are the healer and tank pulls the mobs faster than a good magician pulls a card from his sleeve: time for the tank to learn that he is not the king of the world.
...they don't like clicking bodies: lol. Guess there is nothing that will help here, but I don't think a great percentage of players feels this way. Thank God for that.
Edit:
You put in 1/5th of the work for a dungeon, you get 1/5 of the mobs.
I guess you share 4/5 of all ores and herbs you find inside dungeons with group members...

I'd be curious to know how many epics folks that don't loot end up passing up.
This exactly this, the other day while killing spiders in Tol Barad for the daily i looted
Dizze's Whirling Robe
put it on the ah for 25k it sold in about 3 hours. Now i know the drop rate on that item is exceedingly small however it does go to show it doesnt hurt to at least look while your there.
Back the op's question, I think its simple some people are frugal and some arent and that behavior only naturally shows up in wow.

But your arguments are still "I do what I want, I don't want to help other people" which is not very nice...
It isn't . My argument is 'I don't loot because I don't feel the time is worth the gold earned.'
So yeah.
1g per 0'5 seconds? Totally don't worth it.
You don't get 1g per 0.5 seconds. I have poor latency so it takes me around 3 secs to loot, and who is to say what trash you're going to get?

I have a very lucrative business in JC, Enchanting, and Alchemy going. I make 1,000x more per minute doing that than looting. I don't want to deal with the utter garbage you get from looting dungeon mobs.
Exactly. The OP wanted to know why people don't loot. We are giving our reasons why we don't like to loot. I have enough money. I can make money on the AH quickly if I need to. I don't like dealing with trash in my bags. Stopping and clicking on a body takes time that I would prefer not to waste. In order to pick and choose loot out of the loot window takes even more time. Greens and Blues pop a loot window so I'm not really missing anything.
We are not "wrong" for having these opinions or choosing not to loot. There's your /thread...
I'm leveling a hunter right now. I dumped 4000g on him when I rolled him. He's down to 3300g after buying training, riding skill, AH stuff to level enchanting. I loot NOTHING. I complain to myself every time I get a quest where I have to stop and loot a mob for a quest item.

Let me reverse this on you, what do you care if I don't loot a corpse from three minutes ago? Did you put any effort into murdering the mob?
Again, not your kill, not your loot, not your skin. Get over it.
Let me re-reverse this on you. If you left it on the ground, it's free game.
Finders keepers, law of the jungle, etc etc. Get over it.
Actually
Get over yourself
would probably be more appropriate.

I literally
do not understand
why people seem to think they have any right whatsoever to tell another person to loot.
Rights don't exist. Blizzard says pushing the boundaries of their system is an "exploit" as a "manipulation of game mechanics".
I "manipulate game mechanics" when I equip a tanking trinket on my healer that allows me to counter Wizard Cleave? I manipulate game mechanics when, as a known issue, I can channel a bandage at the end of a Mind Control cast to break it and get some DR immunity?
One point they said that "mob tagging" was a "clever use of game mechanics". When Athene was about to get world's first 80 in WotLK, despite asking a GM previously if he could do so, had his levels reverted all the way back to 70. So they only cared if their intended design, grinding difficulty, was circumvented, which I guess would make their game look "easy", which they wouldn't want.
Second, you want to deny me free money? You want to say, hey, you can have something for free that I can't have, but **** you know, I can't seem to click my ****ing right mouse button and let you have this money because I'm an @#$%^&*.

Looting doesn't take long. In my opinion, if I don't have time to do it, then I don't have time to play. I'd better log off and go do that more important thing that is preventing me from right clicking and auto looting a corpse.
A friend once told me 'You loot too much'. The next day he asked me for 400g. I took great pleasure in telling him no. I won't lend gold to someone who can't be bothered to pick it up from mobs.
As a rule of thumb, if I'm doing dailies with someone who I know doesn't loot, I take lead and put it on free for all. Any greens/blues/epics that drop are mine, because hey, they didn't want to loot. Sucks to be them.

Yay, stupid logic.
You could make the case that skinners don't need to skin in dungeons. You aren't there to make money. You're there to do your damn role that you signed up for. Stop *!@#$ing that you don't get to make a couple extra gold in addition to the loot, experience, JP, etc. Go out and farm like everyone else. At 85 killing a level 81beast mob is doable in how many hits? 4? And they're everywhere? Please, cry harder about the evil people that don't want to waste their time looting all those beasts for you.
If you consider that a "d-bag", then I consider you "an idiot". You don't have any right to &*!@# at people to loot beasts. If they want to, fine, yay for you. But if they don't, you don't get to make a big deal about it.

Let me put up front: I loot _everything_, and I skin _everything_ I can get my hands on.
Have ppl told me to hurry up? Never. Have tanks died because of my looting (as a healer)? Never. Have tanks died because they chain pull without marking at least the first target while I'm freshly dinged and still drinking for mana 100 yrd back after being OOM? Plenty of times.
I'm usually top DPS on my hunter, keeping everyone alive on my shaman, and still have time to spare to loot.
The 'gogogogogo'-crowd usually wipes us with impatience, and the tank would do well to at least see if I'm near him (and preferably look at the pretty blue bar beneath my name as well), but looting or skinning has never held us up :)
As for bag space, I really don't know what ppl think they need all the time :o During leveling, aye, lots of stuff. During endgame? I regularly go raid or HC with 60 to 70 free bag slots...

What on God's earth do game mechanics and expolits have anything to do with my point?
