Okay so Melisandre basically raping Gendry in this episode, and those two girls doing it to Theon last episode. The show writers are obsessed with rape. Like how Dany was raped by Drogo, it didn't happen in the books either..
Also it upsets me that they wont cover the baby's head. I mean, I don't know babies very well but surely that's not good for them? I freeze half to death if I don't wear a hood.

Idk, Gendry seemed pretty ok with it until the leeches came out... They also remove some of the rapes that were in the books, most of them being done by The Mountain and his merry men while Arya was with them. There were also the same women that Roose Bolton tossed in the stocks when he took Herenhall.
And yea I noticed the same thing about the baby... It's face was turning blue. I guess Sam being kind of a pampered rich kid, and Gilly being completely ignorant of the world outside Craster's cabin they don't know much about baby care.
Then again that kind of seems like common sense so idk...

It's not about being "okay" with it, there is no true consent if he feels he had no choice. A mans body being sexually aroused doesn't mean he wants it. Maybe he did, but she had no real consent so it wasn't okay. Not to mention it served no purpose for the show at all. They just seemed to want to add it for the fun of it. Same with what happened to Theon.
Yeah, I don't think they considered it but both this episode and the last they were in I was like "cover itttttt"

SO GLAD they didn't skip Sam the Slayer. But I'm still not in love with the way the Others look. The thing when the crows all stopped and you see something in the woods was creepy as all &*!@. Then you see the White Walker and it's like "Oh nevermind, it's just this derpish looking old guy."

I just meant that, to me, it seemed more like she seduced him, than actually raped him. Like he never said no or stop or anything like that until she started leeching him, and by then the sex was over. If anything it seemed more like how Daenery's wedding night really was in the books. He started off resistant, but then he got into it. Although, rather than the elaborate seduction that Drogo used on Danny, his reaction was more like;

Yeah but if he feels he has no choice, which it looked like on his face, and most people in his position would most likely feel, he wouldn't say no. Also there are other ways of drawing blood than leaches, jeez. That woman is crazy.
Drogo waited for consent with Dany. Melisandre had no intentions of doing that, that was clear.

I think it was mostly about the Leeches having to burn. There's a general theme in the story that power of any kind comes with a sacrifice.
EDIT: Idk, I think if he didn't consent she wouldn't have bothered to try and have sex with him. I think that was more about him letting his guard down than having anything to do with the ritual. The actual sex was incidental. It's like what she said to Stannis about the sheep not seeing the blade before it was slaughtered. The sex was her trying to lull him into a false sense of security so she could tie him down and get the leeches. If he wasn't susceptible to sex, she would have probably gotten him drunk or something else.

Well she had sex with him to draw blood to his.. you know what, because she's out of her mind. I don't think if he had said no she would've pushed it, but she clearly knew that he wouldn't. She kidnaps him (bought him, but to him it was kidnapping) and takes him to some fort with guards and whatever. It was clear that he was afraid of her, he didn't dare to eat because of the "price he would pay", of course he didn't think differently. While there was no violence or anything involed, it was an unneeded scene and the writers just have some perverse obsession with sexual abuse.

Yea I have no idea why they put the leech there. As I mentioned earlier that was the
second time
I had seen that happen in a movie or show in a single day. It was also the second episode of the show in a row that involved some kind of penis mutilation.

You can always just cut a little bit on your hand or some other area that bleeds out quickly but isn't life threatening.
But for the purpose of what they were doing, I think leeches were the best way to go. They wanted 3 people dead and used a leech filled with blood to kill them. A lot simpler than have vials of blood or whatever they would use.

It's memorial day or something in the US, they got poor ratings on the Blackwater ep last year so they decided to postpone a week

Most likely. It's a quality show, they take time to make.
Read the books while you wait if you haven't. Soooooooooooo good.
