Please read the question carefully!
The question is
not
"Do you believe in global warming?". The question is "Should we be
alarmed
about global warming?". There you go, I've italicised the important word for you.
In the red corner, we have Al Gore, and seemingly about 50% of the world's scientists; who would have you believe that the world is going to be flooded, bible-style, within about 45 minutes from now.
In the blue corner, we seemingly have the
other
50% of the world's scientists; who would have you believe either that we aren't experiencing any warming at all, or that any warming we may curently be experiencing is simply part of natural cycles and the world is actually cooler than it was, say, half a billion years ago or so.
Confused? Vote for the confused corner.

I said 'no' because the alarmist aside, and the 'Day After Tomorrow' as well....we're just going through the natural progression of our world, or at least, from what history has shown us, we are: We've had 2-3 Ice Ages before now don't forget, so this heating trend probably happened before.
Are humans making it worse? That's a given, but let's be honest; we've been raping Old Mother Earth for the last 500 or more years, so if we do bring about Global Warming in our lifetime(as in the next 100 years) we kinda of deserve it.
But, as always, South Park puts it
best

Is the climate changing? Yes. Is it something to be alarmed about? Possibly. Is it our fault? Not entirely. Is there anything to be done about it? Unknown.
I'll add this to the polls sticky in a week or two ;P

Umm... This is difficult for me to answer.
I ascribe to the theory about the long-term warming and cooling of the earth which has happened for millenia.
The earth cools and warms. We just have to go along for the ride.
Yes, we should be worried because it will affect mankind (and animals too!).
No, because we can do ^&*! all about it. We are probably speeding it up by a miniscule amount. And it won't affect us dramatically in our life-time (no cataclysmic global distaster event).
You should have another option "yes to all the above "

Cool.
I voted no, just for the record.

The thing I most agreed with that I've read about global warming was in the Science of Discworld books. In one of the science chapters, they pointed out that, if you know what it entails, the fact that we can semi-reliably predict the weather four
days
in advance is truly astounding. Anyone who tells you they
know
what's going to happen, whether they're sure the planet's climate will do next to nothing in the next 100 years or whether they're Al Gore, doesn't know what they're talking about. As such I voted not sure. We simply can't know what the climate is going to do.

Yes, we should be alarmed about how fake it is and should completely rid of it. Most pictures of icebergs falling were taken out of context. For example, the summer time.
Ever since global warming has been brought up, the numbers keep rising and rising at a exponential level. Has the climate changed so far? No.
Scientist: I'm poor right now, let's bring up something that the people would talk about, let's brainwash Al Gore
Al Gore, after reading the reports and figures, is convinced Global Warming is true
Scientists receive funding from the government to do more reserpine and make fake numbers....
Scientists profit
Al Gore profits
Our taxes increase.

It's a bit simplistic to take that view.
I can't semi-reliably predict the number of people who are going to die in traffic accidents in the next 4 days, because there are too many variables. What I can do, however, is look at the much broader trends and semi-reliably predict the number of people who are going to die in traffic accidents over the next 20 years.
The argument that "it's hard to do a short term forecast" doesn't necessarily mean that "it's hard to do a long term forecast".

I think those numbers and the associated opinions you presented are completely pulled out your ass and most scientists would probably fall in between.
You might want to brush up on the idea of
hyperbole

Am I allowed to edit the poll to change it to "climate change" instead of "global warming"?
Just thinking that there are more concerns than just the temperature rising - there is a building level of evidence to suggest that we have increased levels of natural disasters occurring as well.

I'd rather not.
My reasoning for this is that climate change is utterly undeniable, and there is little-to-nothing that we can do to stop it. Global warming, on the other hand, is perceived in some circles to be a direct result of human activity (primarily since the Industrial Revolution); and it is also perceived in many circles to be something that is preventable. I honestly think the subject of climate change belongs in another poll.

As far as I know, Global Warming is a perfectly natural (and vital) part of Planet Earth's "cycles" that have been occuring for much, much longer than mankind has been here.
Are we accelerating the process? Quite possibly, but we're not 100% responsible as some scientists (and Al Gore?) would have us believe - there are evidence telling us that it has happened before, and I doubt that the dinosaurs had big industries causing enormous amounts of pollution, heh.
Voted no.

I don't honestly know how serious it is with the media making all those "WE'RE GONNA DIE" titles, with nothing really happening.

No.
You really don't know what you are talking about. I will tell you a little fact I had to live:
The 9th of July in 2007 polar wind came to Buenos Aires and it snowed for a few days. The last registered snowstorm before that in Buenos Aires was in 1918. Some hobos were found dead, because of the massive cold of that week.
Besides, I don't know if this happens there, but here the summers are getting warmer and the winters colder every year and it's very noticeable.
Also, the fact that Al Gore made some good profit of all this doesn't mean it's necessarily false that the global warming is not just pure business; if that's what your argument was all about, face.

While I agree that the earth goes up and down in a natural cycle, it's totally wrong to say that the climate hasn't changed.
"Climate change" is now one of the most pressing topics in United Nations conferences. Hello,
sinking islands
? Both poles melting?

Yeah, but the 'we're all gonna die in 45 minutes' is from climate change, not global warming, as such.
Anyway, your call mate :)
