No, you're all mixed up.
The
greenhouse effect
is what makes Earth a reasonable temperature for life to thrive in. Global warming is caused by the
increasing
of the greenhouse effect. In other words, the greenhouse effect is simply a benign term, while global warming is just regarding
changes
in the grenhouse effect.
Thank you.

If there were no changes in the greenhouse effect, do you think life would have been able to thrive in? Greenhouse effect level can also decrease, which is what is supposed to be one of the main causes to start ice ages. On the other side, if there was no increase on the greenhouse effect after an ice age, I doubt that would be a good time to thrive in.
It sounds to me that you're trying to imply that every time there is an ice age, life gets wiped out.
Humans can withstand temperatures of -50°C. Without the greenhouse effect, the night temperature would probably be more like -100°C, which we wouldn't be able to withstand. So warming or cooling cycles really have nothing to do with it.

The best we can do is to ask companies to restrict the amount of pollution they shoot into the air to a bare minimum while maintaining efficiency and meeting demands that would not affect the company.
